Hi EA Community,
I was one of many people who joined Origin back when it was launched in 2011 and Origin hasn’t always been perfect but I do agree that it’s time for something new, a refresh.
I’m always open to trying something new but with EA Desktop, I just don’t think it’s ready yet.
Here is a list of features that I believe still need to be improved on, implemented or brought back to EA Desktop form Origin.
- Game Support (not all games are available still)
- Third Party Game Launcher Compatibility (same still require origin)
- Filter, Hide or Remove Games In My Collection (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Feedback/Filter-Hide-or-Remove-Games-From-Library/m-p/11240815#M633)
- Origin Point System (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Feedback/Achievements-amp-Points-System/m-p/10171617#M241)
- In-Game Overlay Options (customise shortcut keys, FPS counter etc..)
- Group Chats
- Voice Chats
- Pop-out Chat on Desktop/In-Game Overlay
- Purchase as Gift
- Add to Wishlist
- Default Home Screen Option
- Resize App Icons in Game Library (Small, Medium or Large)
- Game Library List View
- Option to keep or minimise EA Desktop when Launching a Game
- Option to use “X” to close or minimise EA Desktop App
- Cloud Sync Options (Local or Online)
- Limit/Throttle Download Speeds
- Offline Play
- Locate/Relocate already Downloaded Games
- Add Non-EA Desktop Game
- MacOS Support (+ Apple Silicon)
- High System Memory Usage
- Custom Install location/Name for EA Desktop (Installing App)
- More Accessibility Needs (Text-to-Speech, Colour Blind etc...)
- General Bugs and Performance Issues (Loading, Installing, Downloading, UI Bugs etc..)
I’m sure there are plenty more features that I have missed and please feel free to add more by replying but I still believe that EA Desktop isn’t ready yet. Not added these features in my opinion would be a missed opportunity.
Excited to see the future of EA Desktop.
Cheers,
Beauzinga
