KEEP EA IN OFFLINE MODE!!!

So I do not have internet access at home, and I used to play sims all day. Now I can't even play my sims, I'm just lucky to have hotspot on my phone to be able to at least start it up, which is limited. When I run out of GB for this month, I have no idea what I'm going to do... I'm so sad, and the reason I even got into the Sims was to be able to have an offline game I could immerse myself into for hours at a time. I DO PUT MY EA APP INTO OFFLINE MODE, but anytime I turn off the PC or have to reboot it, it requires internet connection to open EA therefore access to sims.

So no internet connection? No sims ☹️

I honestly do not find the EA user friendly, if anything, IT IS AGAINST THE USER!

That's a terrible solution and entirely misses the point of having an offline mode. People make big assumptions about what kind of internet and mobile access people have these days. I live in a rural area and the internet is frequently spotty (which is ironic given if you cross into the next county, you have literally THE BEST internet in the country), so asking me to have internet every time I start the app is a slap to the face. I am fortunate to have a smart phone that I can turn into a hotspot for like... 5 seconds, but what if I didn't have that?

  • Agreed! I live in an area that doesn't always have great internet, and requiring me to always be online is frustrating! And the so-called "solution" of having internet while you log in and then turning it off is terrible. I don't want to make my phone a hotspot when my internet goes out just to log onto a stupid app to play a game that is not multi-player!

I mean, steam lets you start in offline mode, why not the EA app?

Only at EA: playing a single player game offline requires you to be online to start it. Putting it in offline mode AFTER having to be online to launch it completely misses the point of having a single player offline experience.

Who designed that abomination of an App?

Sorry, but no. I'm sure most of us keep getting the "an error of an unresolvable nature has occurred" too after about 15 min. Currently, "offline mode" is a lie.

It's not an error, or a bug, if it's happening to nearly everyone. It's a design feature, which I can't even say is bad design, given that it's probably doing exactly what EA wants, while being rooted in a misguided company policy of loving DRMs.

DRMs do nothing to stop misuse of software, it's just, plain and simple, a hostile approach to the actual customers. Very unfortunate company mindset.

this is also happening to me. it’s upsetting at this point ☹️. sometimes I only get to connect to wifi once a week. pls update if you find a fix or the problem resolves.

  • @EA_Darko I have the same problem as weepingdelilah, and have tried to set EA in offline mode. It doesn't work. Usually after I close out of the game, I get an error message that "an error of an unresolvable nature has occurred" and I am prompted to login again. It also doesn't save my login info even though I have checked the box to remember it. It's frustrating because I don't have wifi at home and have to use my phone as a hotspot and sometimes I don't have enough cell service for that to work. If I knew this would happen I would not have updated the game or installed EA app.
