yes. origin != the games, no gamepad support means you can't use a gamepad to interact with origin. gamepad support is down to the individual games. steam only offers it to games launched via steam.

which means you got two options (given the game supports controllers in the first place, when in doubt check pcgamingwiki):

- launch it via steam so it can use steam input.

- install an x-input wrapper like ds4windows (dualshock 4 only supports directinput natively, which again is not supported by every game).

I played titanfall 1 with a dualshock3 just fine in 2015 and titanfall 2 with a dualshock4 in 2016. highly doubt it's gotten worse since then, even if this is EA we're talking about...
