You can! I turned off my internet connection and opened the ea app and that gave me the option to start a game without connection... The problem is that all my dlc were missing 😅
I would love to know that too. I like to play the Sims when I travel and airport wifi is not exactly reliable... in any way. I paid for them I should be able to play them whenever and wherever I please.
DLCs should work in offline mode as well.
You can test that quite easily yourself.
Disable the Internet on your computer > Start EA App > Start the Game.
What a stupid piece of software, there is not one good reason for it. Anyone care to tell me how it's of any use?
My Internet is patchy at best but BF2/3/4 played offline was a bit of a faff about to start, but then ran fine and kept me amused for hours.
Thank you EA for screwing it up! Going offline means the app automatically tries to reconnect - does that have anything to do with the campaign freezing when initializing - the game never starts...
Previously to games needing apps and overlays everything simply worked, I can only guess at the nefarious reasons EA and others need to scan our machines for data.
What happened to - icon - double click - play game???
The EA APP does not work.... can I have my money bacK??
I'm told there are there bars at the top left of the screen whereby we can go offline.
Well, well done you EA screwups, the latest update has removed them - if they were ever there!
I won't be buying EA products again, not that the bunch of cretins are bothered. The number of complaints against EA is staggering, yet they continue to ignore customers whilst still spying and scraping players hard drives for data and information.
To say I'm peed off is an understatement...

Sill very much present.
If you weren't so busy insulting people, you might have seen it.
But hey, decency is not for everybody. 😛Don't know where you got your screenshot from, this is my EA home page. Care to point me to the three bars that are supposed to drop down and show an offline icon?
Click on the three lines in the upper left corner.
My apologies, someone, mentioning no names, but not a milliom miles from me had played with the screen setting and I couldn't see them.
Spring has sprung, little lambs are gambolling in the fields, and I am now a happy bunny..
Thank you
This doesn't actually work. It will only take you offline for that session. The next time you launch the app, you MUST have an internet connection to play anything.
I just tested this by restarting the EA app while offline and restarting the PC while offline.
MELE, Mass Effect Andromeda and Dead Space (original) did run fine. What game do you try to start?
Did you preformed a app recovery?
In EA app > Click on the 3 lines in the top left corner > Help > App recovery > Clear cache
yeah, but the ea app doesn't have game settings or anything in offline mode unlike origin
you can only launch games and it doesn't even show the icons and stuff, just a list
@holger1405You are obviously far more au fait with the intricacies of the overlay, but how EA expect the rest of us mere mortals to know these things is beyond me. None of the regular games I play have a recovery button, they're old, but then again they don't need one - they just work!
Again - icon - double click - logon - single or multi play. What's wrong with that?
As our cousins across the pond say - if it 'aint broke, don't fix it'...I just tried this and it said you have to login first then switch to offline to play 😔

And then when you do, EA Desktop disappears. No UI graphics, no tiles...all you are left with is a grey screen with a warning that you are offline and a text list of the games in your collection. Soooo petty, EA.
FIFA won't run when offline. This is not a bug, this is how they designed the app. If you go offline, the app informs you that it will try to connect online the next time you launch it. Offline mode is for that session only.

This feedback/functionality has yet to be implemented properly for those of us who purchased our games through Steam.
This honestly NEEDS to be resolved. It's completely unfair to be unable to launch a game that doesn't need internet connection for gameplay when Steam is in offline mode, or when you lose internet and try to launch through Steam. Especially when people who buy it through the EA App have this feature, and those of us who bought it on Steam had it with Origin before the forced update. @Goldielocks403Same thing. Pretty stupidly designed that you have to log in online in order to play offline or you get error 201. Pretty difficult to do that WHEN YOU CAN'T GET ONLINE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I can't even launch the application directly from its installation folder because doing so still goes through the EA app (so I'm essentially locked out of accessing content that's already installed on my computer), nor can I launch an offline version of the app to change the necessary setting to enable local play.
What a massive oversight. How could the designers not realize that one of the major reasons people would want to play offline is because they CANNOT go online because of lack of service? If your "solution" requires you to go online in order to enable offline play, then it's not an actual solution. What a bunch of incompetent clowns. The option to go offline is only available for those that CAN go online. The app itself has no options available for those with no Internet connection to start. We only get a screen saying to recheck Internet connection.
- @holger1405 This is pointless since the only reason anyone would want to play offline is if they have no connection and to even see this screen you need to log in. Let this sink in: "You need to LOG IN to play OFFLINE".
A monkey designed this! I agree. This is beyond stupid. I used to be able to play my games logged in or not. Now I can only play when logged in AND if the game will launch. They should give us back Origin and fire whomever is responsible for this debacle.
@06cf9e88eaf7ee92I just tried a couple of the suggestions listed above with predictable results. The game I have installed several months ago and wanted to play today is Command and Conquer: Generals. I have only been able to play any of my EA games ONE time since forced to use the EA app. It, along with all of my other games, fail to launch so I thought maybe it would launch offline. Nope, it doesn't even show in my library unless logged into Origin. The only game in my offline library wouldn't launch either.
- @06cf9e88eaf7ee92 More than generals works for me. I can't even launch the game on a user account. Never had a problem on origin. Now I see why EA is considered such an evil company. They make it so I can't play a game I payed for.
how can I play eafc mobile game without using wifi or data connection ??

I was hoping EA learned from the origin program but NOPE. You still need to login into go offline. So if like me right now lost internet and my PC restarted I have NO way to play a single game like Sims 4??? What sort of logic is this where I need internet for a SINGLE PLAYER GAME.
