Use a different app

Don't buy games from EA, Its not worth it. The Launcher is clunky and breaks all the time. It requires constant fixing and updates every other time you open and it doesn't have a real offline mode so you have to be connected to the internet and deal with the updates to play. It is just not worth the time and effort. If you can buy the game from a different place, even if its a bit more expensive, just do it.

They need to roll it back to Origin. It had it's problems, but you could actually fix those. This app is completely unusable.

I am actually OK with it. It's simple but worth checking that it doesn't stay on in the background. Easy to switch off in the settings, then when you close the app it stops the service/task in one minute. It should be defaulted that way though, which is the case with Steam.

Of course it lacks the functionallity of Steam (Steam as a platform is way better.).

If I find an EA game I want for instance in Steam, I get it directly from EA (close Steam and use only EA app) that avoids linking accounts which seem to cause a lot of people a lot of issues. I never do that.

As I never link accounts things generally go smoothly. There are a few quirks, but overall I haven't had any major issues with it, so it works as a kind of bare bones game client and Store front.
