Yes, you will need the EA client for some of the newer games. However, it's a piece of crap imo (and others) and you'll most likely want to keep using your Origin client instead. So, see the thread 'Give us back our Origin client' to get the full info on how to keep using it. Once you're installing the EA app, change settings for where it installs game to the original Origin clients game save location....\Origin Games\....folder. Go ahead and link it with Steam if you use steam cuz it'll make those launches easier. Afterwards, restart the PC, get the full download of the Origin client from the link at TechSpot in my other post and follow user tom_looken's link on adding the code into the local.xml file.
