How to turn off EA App Needs to Restart notification

I was watching a YouTube video full screen when suddenly my eye gets grabbed by the EA App telling me it needs to restart due to an update.

How do I turn that off because that's not something I want. I can't find it in any settings.

And no, restarting the app is not the answer I want. I don't want to have to stop whatever it is that I'm doing just to update the EA App when I'm not even doing anything even remotely related to playing a game.

Prevent me from launching games or updating games, that's fine. But I do not want to be interrupted while I'm doing other things not related to gaming that I need to restart the EA App. Especially not multiple times in the span of a few hours.

Origin was never that annoying about it. And I was already peeved about being forced to the EA App when I was not ready to move to it.

    Hi @Seera1024,

As of this moment there is no setting that disabled the app update messages you're seeing, they will appear whenever the EA app needs to be updated or restarted to finish applying an update.

You can close the EA app and EA background service in the task manager if you do not wish to see these messages while you're not using the app.

  • Wanting to add that this issues persists even after restarting my computer for unrelated issues. Why do I need to restart the App if the app has already been closed and not opened yet?

  • It's asking me again to restart the program and I've not had any response to this. I only noticed it when it said 0h 0m instead of multiple times so maybe things have been adjusted, but it prompted me to come here to see if there had been a response.

Just responding here to see if I can get an answer to this.

How do I turn off the notification that I need to restart the EA App due to an update for the program.

Here's one way to do the notification of app update without having to be annoying with it - it's what Steam does:

Pop's up a separate window, but has it default to behind currently active windows, but it flashes yellow.

You can close it and it will shut down and stay down the entire time. Until you wake the computer up from sleep. If you restart the computer, when Steam launches, it will install the update. This is not something the EA App does. I can restart my computer, launch the EA App and it will tell me I need to restart the app. Isn't that what happens when I restart the computer? Fresh launching the EA App after a computer restart should force updates to the EA App to happen. Daily updates that happen when I'm not in the middle of something and the initial update notification doesn't interrupt what I'm currently doing.

  • Poking again as I've not had an answer as to how to do this.

How do I turn off the EA App update notifications?

I can figure out how to turn off notifications for invites, chats, game updates, but not the updates for the EA App itself.

The notifications for the EA App updates are too invasive for my preferences and therefore I want to turn them off.

The lack of even someone coming in and saying "No, sorry, that's not currently a feature" is really turning me off of using EA products.

It really shouldn't take this long to be told how to do something in the app or that it's not possible.
