Welcome to the EA App!

The EA app isn’t just a reskin or a bug fix — it’s a new gaming platform with new features as well as improvements to performance, function, and design. We're still hard at work shaping this experience for you. That means some features aren't working yet or may be missing.

Below you'll find what we're still working on.

Top issues & Workarounds

• Launching a game from a shortcut before launching the app isn't currently supported. Games can be launched from a shortcut, My Collection, or Recently Played list after the application is started and logged-in.
• Restart Application menu item does not restart the EA background service. If you encounter an error and need to fully restart, the EA background service can be exited from the Windows Task Manager.
• Some players are reporting issues with downloading/installing games. We've posted some steps here that may help with that. 

Subscription/Purchase

• My Collection requires an app restart to repopulate when a subscription has expired and the player renews their subscription
• Game currency denominations are not sorted correctly in the dropdown
• Get Game module infinitely loading for certain games in countries where those games are not available
• After redeeming a product code and attempting to download, a delay occurs before the Game Hub is loaded
• When redeeming a Game or DLC, player may have to refresh the EA App after redeeming a code for their content to appear
• Accounts that have canceled their subscription will see incorrect hero badge messaging that their subscription will renew

Search/Browse

• Background videos use significantly more CPU/GPU resources in client
• Games recently added to Collection might not show as "Owned" for a few seconds
• Release time information for pre-orders overlaps the box when friends panel is open
• Need for Speed Payback appears in search results for countries where it is not available

Download Game

• Game Hub does not recognize installed games from another account when acquiring
• Wrong box art displayed for active download in a queue after restarting the app
• Downloading one add-on causes the other action buttons to be disabled afterward
• Download button gets stuck after pausing and unpausing a game from My Collection
• Downloading a base game plus its add-on does not display the add-on in the Download Manager
• Game files are deleted when a player cancels the download of a game update
• Unsupported languages are displayed in the language selector when downloading/installing a game

Launch Game

• Initiating a game launch after a trial has expired causes the client to crash
• Game Collection sometimes does not properly sort alphabetically
• Launching Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, or The Sims 3 from the Game Hub will sometimes change the button text from “Play” to “Download”

In-Game Commerce

• In-Game Overlay may perform slowly or be unresponsive at higher resolutions on certain systems
• Keyboard navigation in the In-Game Overlay does not function until user clicks in on In-Game Overlay
• The Sims 4 Build Your Own Bundle isn't yet available in EA App
• Battlefield 4 - EA App in-game overlay sometimes unresponsive
• In-Game Purchases are currently not available for the following games:
• Mass Effect Andromeda
• Anthem
• Dead Space 3
• NFS Rivals
• NFS Most Wanted
• SimCity (2013)
• Northgard
• Medal of Honor Warfighter

In-Game Invites

• Madden 20 - Connection is lost when sending a game invite

Social Panel

• New users can’t be found through search for 30 minutes after creating their account
• Profile privacy settings may throw an error when attempting to connected a Steam Account to Import Friends 
• Users can send family requests to themselves
• Social panel input fields do not work when the Game Hub media viewer is open
• Some users are unable to see each others' presence
• Mini-profile shows game tiles in the incorrect resolution
• Profile status might continue to show you playing a game even after quitting it
• Social panel not displaying more than 100 friends, preventing players from interacting with any friends beyond the 100 limit
• Players that are not friends may incorrectly appear in the "mutual friends" section
• Friend presence in Apex not in sync with friend presence in EA App
• "A connection to the server could not be established" error occurs when linking PSN account
• Chat history will expire after 29 days, but there is no messaging to indicate this to players

Profile

• Games tab should not have a limit set for how many games are surfaced
• EA ID cannot be changed via the Edit Profile menu

Playtime Visualization

• Playtime visualization bar graph doesn’t update automatically and requires a page refresh

Login

• No direct navigation options are provided after requesting a password reset

• No error message displayed when connection to login server fails
• Clicking off the Email field on the Login screen displays a "Email address is invalid"

General / Other

• After waking your system from a sleep state, the application may encounter an error.
• The application may encounter an error if you lose network connectivity.
• Accessibility bug: NVDA and VoiceOver do not pronounce 'unavailable' before unavailable elements on dropdown
• EA Background Service crashes when player logs in and out after soaking, requiring EA App to be restarted
• Client components sometimes appear to load in separately/disjointedly
• Games with "The" at the start of their title are alphabetically sorted with “T”s
• System Tray Menu loads in the bottom right of the primary monitor
• Ctrl-clicking opens external links within the app instead of the web browser
• Titles that support multiple Chinese language options are only displaying one option
• Playtime text is not being translated 
• Installed games are not showing as installed on the Recently Played bar
