Origin made me enter my product code, now EA won't let me use it

Hey,

Frustrating problem here.  I purchased the Sims 3 Starter Pack about four years ago from Wal-Mart, got frustrated with the issues with Origin and not being able to actually download it and went back to playing the Sims 2 (I'm 31 years old and it's my comfort game).  My teenage daughter recently started playing The Sims 4 on her laptop, which is a solid 10 years newer than mine.  We've both been taking turns playing it but she's out of town this weekend so I thought I would fire up my 10 year old Windows 7 computer and try to download my disc set of the Sims 3 again, just to have something new to explore.

Right off the bat, Origin tells me that I'm offline.  Youtube and Google many things and download that app without the game and it works enough to get me to enter my product code and then says I need to actually download the EA app.  It won't let me past this to access the Origin app homepage where I'm assuming I would have been able to finish downloading my game.  I install EA app, it uninstalls Origin and then when I go to enter the product code for the base Sims 3 game, it tells me that the code is already used (obviously, it was me on the Origin app literally an hour before this).

Additionally, I can't actually get the EA app to launch on my computer, even though it says it's compatible with Windows 7.  How the heck do I play this stupid game!!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  • @KarlaA91 A while back, all cd versions with codes that were registered during the Origin days, were converted into digital downloads so you literally don't need the CD for any reason.

When a game doesn't show up, the first thing you want to do is go to the store. Locate the game and it will say either download or purchase. If it says purchase, the code is linked to another EA Account.

However, if you go into your EA profile. and go under transactions, you can see any purchase or code redemption. If you are not seeing it, you would need to contact our live support in order for them to look up the code.

    • Select the game or EA App
