Origin Retirement?

I'm hoping that I can be filled in on this as it's not mentioned in the FAQ or in any of the news topics, but assuming Origin actually gets retired and closed down in the future - do we have a date or rough time of when that may happen? It doesn't matter too much because I'm sure most will migrate to the new EA Desktop App, but for those that stick with Origin will it suddenly stop working one day?

We do not have an exact date just yet but Origin will eventually be fully sunset.

Keep an eye on our channels for specific info in the future.

    Thanks.

  • No thanks, leave Origin alone and let people have the option to use Origin or the EA App if they choose, users have the right and option to decide if they want to use Origin or EA App.

  • Well I really hope Origin stays for as long as possible because EA Desktop is just as buggy and broken as it was when it first came out and is still missing loads of features. Did I mention it still does not run on my main gaming PC at all so if they shut Origin down i'm out of all my games? Very cool that would be of EA to do wouldn't it. Just leave Origin alone at the very least until the new crap is atleast somewhat competent.
  • @tyl0413 yeah im very confused. i just installed EA desktop & literally none of my games that i've already purchased & play daily are showing up in my library ☹️ just prompting me to repurchase the game or pay $5.00/mo for "EA+". unless i'm just missing something. which is very likely.
  • The easier answer would be to say that its not being sunset ever, but that the terrible and worthless piece of resource-hogging barely-functioning software that is EA Desktop will be shut down in the next week. That's the only answer any of us really care to hear.

Don't worry, I know you're trying your best. I understand its hard trying to be friendly face for a company we all know doesn't give a single care in the world about us or anything it pumps out. You have my sympathies and pity, Barry. I hope you find a job in near future where someone who works as hard as you is actually valued.

  • Hey there,

It seems you've mistakenly banned my other account, MindlessProton, for a week. I'm sure this is an accident as certainly someone who works for the most hated gaming company of all time would expect would have some pretty thick skin. I know on stressful days it can be difficult to keep yourself together, but I believe in you! Grab another tissue, wipe some of those tears away, and get clacking on that keyboard so you can unban my account for me.

I look forward to being able to resume contributing to conversations again on my other account soon.

Have a good one, Barney c:

@hellohannav did you ever figure out how to find your games??? I've been offline for a while and decided to re-download my stuff, and can't even find a link for origin download, so I downloaded EA and have zerrrrooo of my games there.

Origin stopped today RIP, but the feedback given on the new EA app has not been followed. They are doing the same thing as before, ignoring the gamers feedback and chasing us away from EA games. :-( I'm missing the FPS in the corner.
