"outdatedEADesktop" folder expendable?

EA desktop seems to have created a folder that is separate folder called "outdatedEADesktop". Its the same size as the regular application folder and located in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop. I was hypothesizing that it creates this one after an update that uses such fundamental changes, that it cant overwrite the old files. If it doesn't cause any problems, I would just delete it. Thanks for any replies.

    You can rename the folder to something like outdatedEADesktop_old and go about your day. 

    If that does not cause a problem after a week or two or regular play, we can assume it can be deleted without issue.

    If renaming the folder does cause an issue, it is a simple matter of returning it to its original name.

    Why EA App leaves rubbish behind? Can it be avoided? I have "EA Desktop", "outdatedEADesktop" and "StagedEADesktop". Is it really necessary? Cannot be just config file backed up instead of the whole package which no one needs?

    Amen. I just checked the install size of the EA Desktop app on my PC. The folder is a little over 1 GB! And I have the same 3 sub folders. EA Desktop, outdated, and stagedEADesktop.

    It seems for some reason EA installs a copy of the current release version, keeps a copy of the previous version, and maybe the staged folder is updates it downloads but applies later or something like that IDK.

    Either way seems pretty crazy to have the client alone take up 1 gig.
