Re: Slow Download Speeds on EA app

@EA_Darko I would like to highlight, we are talking about this under a post, where your users are complaining about the download speed of the same application.
I can understand, if you say that the problem is in my system locally, can resolve several problems from your side, for example to not proceed with any internal troubleshooting related to the EA application, as not just me, but several people before has the same local problem with their separated and I'm sure pretty different configs all around the world. Believe me please, as someone from kind of a same technical support site, when I say, the Admin mode should not have differences in download speed, as literally no other applications that we are using to download software.
The problem IS with the application, not with our system.

Hey @MadK4pper generally issues like this are system or network or even ISP related.

I'm testing here and my speeds are quite fast which would lead me to believe that the issue may be on your network or system.

It's perfectly fine to blame the App but doing so means that you may continue to see the issue.

Also, remember that the EA App is in beta, as such you can run into any number of issues with it.

  • @EA_Darko Sure the EA App is still in Beta. But why do i HAVE to use it with the Game Pass? I would love to switch back to origin, but i can't, because all EA Games that I play use Game Pass. So please understand our anger, but we pay a lot of money for a system that doesn't properly work.
  • @EA_Darko dude I'm reading your replies here and my bf2042 has been updating 5 gb throttling between 20 mb/s and 0kb/s for 3 hours now. Your app is trash, and you are a trash person for supporting this companies' nonsense then gaslighting people into thinking it's their issue. My pc is perfect, I have a bachelors in CS, no other game app throttles my downloads like this. The issue lies in what you admitted here
"Also, remember that the EA App is in beta, as such you can run into any number of issues with it."
My question, is if it's in Beta, why are Xbox gamepass users forced to use the dogwater application to play games you made a deal to xbox with? Sounds like a CAL to me.
  • Ill be writing to Xbox gamepass about this experience.  Your download speeds are unacceptable and so is this "EA app" .... Your replies are nonsensical, don't reply to any actual points, hell, I'm thinking of writing the press just for a now 6 hour download on a 5 gb update.  It's been verifying now for an hour at 25%.  You guys are absolutely sick.  Origin was even worse.

You are quoting an almost 2-year-old post by me @knexkid69.

The EA app is no longer in beta.

I tested this just now to see if there were any issues with downloads and it's working as I would expect.

It sounds like you may be having connection issues so I'd recommend troubleshooting your system and connection: https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/problems-playing-online/

  • Hey thanks dude but like I said I have pretty decent experience with computing systems

I've troubleshooted on everything and there are no problems on my network other than using your app

Seeing the same glitch 2 years later out of beta is even more worrisome, as if you don't care to fix the issues and they are still happening

Like I said before, you are quick to blame peoples' systems while your IP is probably certified by EA or your account is whitelisted to get great download speeds.  Also the fact that you work for EA means you probably live close to one of their datacenters.  Go to your friends house, the next town over, that has nothing to do with this company, sign in on a fresh account and try downloading battlefield 2042, then get back to me.  Hell, try an internet cafe.  You've seen this complaint so many times and you are so fast to blame peoples' systems man... but of all your replies, I've never seen one person reply to you saying that it was indeed their system that was the issue.

Some homework for you, this time.

  • Maybe a 2 year post but i have just downloaded the EA app from XBOX LIVE as an Ultimate subsciber and i am suffering from horrible download Bottleneck.
This only Occurs from the EA APP

Ive been Downloading BF 5 since 9am this morning.

To test, i downloaded "High on Life" from steam for the first time, it took 11 minutes.

Theres a reason people are necroposting, because the issue IS THERE and shows why people are sending complaints to Microsoft for not being able to access every inch of Xbox Ultimate in a manner that should be expected.
Im a fool for thinking the days of EA winning worse company years in a row were over. Seems EA are back to living the glory days of doing nothing and blaming others.

Its now 18:21 and im 63% of the way to downloading BF5 fully.
Thats 12 hours for one game and you state "works my end as i would expect" then to offer connection issues?
Well of course theres connection issues, EA app is bottlenecking the download!!
There is nothing else wrong with my system, nor set up

You know what, sod it. Im removing the EA app. ill go back to avoiding EA, clearly nothing has changed

Hey all, if seeing issues with slow downloads please try the steps I shared above.

I tested this again and am getting similar speeds to those in my image above. If this was an issue with the EA app I would expect to be experiencing the same issues as you describe.

First I couldn’t even get the app to open. I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall the app - then it was still running two processes at once, which prevents the app from downloading fully. This was after I fully uninstalled it. It took a long time to find where it was downloading hidden files to and delete all copies, so the app would open.

My download speeds are extremely slow. I lowered my user permissions, (as directed by EA) and did try running it as admin. I’ve tried several different things. I’m throwing everything at this and my speeds are approx 60- 70kb. At this rate it’s going to be at least a MONTH before I even have all the packs installed to play ONE game.

You speak as if everyone should know exactly what to do (“run as admin” etc). I am just a typical gamer, who isn’t that tech savvy. It’s a big problem if you expect everyone to know what to do, and go through so much just to make the app work. C’mon there are thirteen year olds playing these games. Then, to suggest things that compromise security is unethical, (as EA is) It’s arrogance to suggest that it’s everyone else and not the app, when THIS MANY PEOPLE have the SAME ISSUES. It’s the app that should accommodate the typical system and Win 10/11

This isn’t viable for the majority of people. If I hadn’t already invested thousands of hours in games and hundreds of dollars, I wouldn’t even bother. This app doesn’t work and it needs to be fixed!! It shouldn’t even be out of beta.

I’ve been working on this for days. Like it’s my job. If anyone has a solution I would be open to hearing about it.

  • EA help says move the file to download faster. It also suggests that all other programs be closed. It seems to be downloading to OneDrive(??) OneDrive is running a lot right now and I’m afraid to stop it, in case it harms the app. I see the program file in C drive, though. What do I move? Where do I move it?

Hey @MarshaMyGames please do not post multiple times in a row as this is considered spam.

To check open ports you will need to refer to your router manual.

Hey @GewoonJomme testing this now and am hitting speeds of 54.61 MBs.

What steps have you tried on your end to troubleshoot your connection?

None of the fixes in ANY of the threads about EA Play / Origin downloads being slow helped me. BUT!!!!! when I had a slow download for a different game I googled it and it fixed my EA Play download speed as well. All I had to do was:

    1. Enter the following line in cmd, make sure to launch it as admin: netsh interface tcp show global

    2. If it says disabled, enter: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal

    3. After the download is done, make SURE to set it back to disabled, so enter in cmd again: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

I hope enough people see this still looking for a fix and that it helps them. I attached screenshots for comparison.

  • @naughty-n0a I agree with you EA APP is pure trash and DL speed never goes beyond 50kb but on Origins DL speed is not an issue, it just shows how poorly EA APP had been made with no definite testing and not to mention the moderators here are only good at copy pasta resolution that didn't really worked *SMH* instead random people will look for a solution to get the issue fixed which is totally embarrassing a big company but with barebone management and support.

To be honest releasing EA APP was a waste of time they should have just kept Origins but no, they force people to switch to EA APP and suffer with issues and DL speed is the worst I've seen.
  • @EA_Darko You completely ignored my reply of trying a different account or ip to download on.  Then moved on to say "Fine on my end, try again!" .. Shame on you.  You are one of the people who give us network and software devs a bad name, you should be out of work years ago.  Look how many people complained after I did.

I'll be encouraging as many people in the industry as I know to complain about your copy/paste nonanswers on this thread.  Best of luck in the future.
