Re: Slow Download Speeds on EA app

EA_Darko, as an IT Admin for over 20 years, running every app with admin level permissions is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have every seen a company representative state.

Running every application as admin is something that should be avoided as much as possible.
What you just suggested opens people up to all sorts of security risks.
There is a very legitimate reason why every major OS on the planet by default sets permissions at the user level and not at root or admin.
Did you think all these developers just wanted to make you jump through a special hoop because they think its funny?

On a secondary note, telling people to open up a crap load of random ports in their router is also not advised from a security perspective.
Most people have an extremely rudimentary understanding of what port forwarding does, and the security risks involved.
Suggesting UPNP on the router might be a bit better as it opens and closes ports as required, at least its supposed to if the software and or router is not crap.
Though it should be stated that multiple devices on the same network playing at the same time can be problematic with UPNP, so that should also communicated.

Lastly, as I stated Im 20 years in IT and I remember the early days quite clearly. Crap positions suck, and you have to trudge through it.
But you will always have to deal with people and people are always going to suck to one degree or another.
If you cant handle people quipping or taking snipes at you without getting butt hurt, as seems obvious from some of your replies, then this line of work might not be the best fit for you.
