Re: Uninstall EA Desktop

@CalvinistGamer82

You can try a third party uninstall software like Revo Uninstaller.

  • Make sure EA Desktop is closed.
  • Go here and download the "Revo Uninstaller". (The freeware version, Portable version works too.)
  • Run "Revo Uninstaller" > EA Desktop.
  • At the end of the main uninstall, Revo will ask you which cleaning method you want to use. > Select "Moderate" > Browse.
  • If "Remaining registration content found" is displayed > Select All > Delete > Next
  • When "Remaining Data and Folders" is displayed > Select All (Make sure the "Origin Games" folder is not in the list) > Delete.
  • Restart the PC.

    That's what I ended up doing, but I shouldn't have to do that.

    True, but it still is a beta.

    I tried to uninstall via control panel and it just said ea desktop has nothing to it or has already been uninstalled and deleted that piece. The app is still there. It is operating but not well I guess. Downloaded Revo and it can't find this app at all. What the * am I supposed to do. I have this piece of * cancer on my pc and I can't * get rid of it.

    @romibiPC

    Revo can "see" EA Desktop on my system just fine.

    I assume that the uninstall via control panel did purged Registry entries and that lead to Revo not "seeing" your installation.

    In this situation the manual erase of remaining Registry entries and files of EA desktop is the only way imho.

  • then could you put a map of all the folders that the ea desktop appears on?
  • Deleting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Art\EA Desktop did the trick for me

    @rhiarhirhi

    It is a Registry key not a folder, even if it is displayed as a folder in Regedit

    You need to delete the "EA  Desktop"  key. (Right click  "EA  Desktop" > Delete)

    But be careful not to delete anything else.

    You also can back up the Registry before you work on it by right click "Computer" > "Export" at top of the chain.

    Ok so I still have the problem I've no more solution now :'(

    Good buy Ea games

  • Close "EA Desktop Background Service" in your Taskmanager then you can deinstall this software trash!

  • Has this been solved? I'm having the same issue. Deleting the registry key doesn't work for me

  • Thanks for the reply! I went to the extreme. I reinstalled  windows after backing up all my important files. My eadesktop games were install on my E drive, so I also had to delete my “WindowsApps” folder on my E drive. There are guides online about how to take ownership, but long story short this fixed my issue. Do not delete the “WindowsApps” folder if it’s on the C drive. Apparently this can cause a lot of issues.
