Can’t install add-on, only available on Windows. How to fix?

I just returned to playing The Sims 4. I previously played it on Windows, but now I’m using a Mac and trying to download the game again. However, I can’t download it because the system says it’s available on Windows. How can I resolve this issue? Thank you for your help!

  • dmcln  Did you buy these packs through Steam or Epic?  If so, this is by design: both the Steam and Epic versions of Sims 4 are Windows-only, and so is the content you own there.

  • I have the same problem and can’t figure it out. Please lmk if you solve it!

Hello!!! i first installed sims on the Steam App, and all of my my packs i purchased them from the EA App, and now i have a mac, did i just loose all of that money 😓😓?

  • andreaxreadss  You should have access to any content you own in the EA App.  What's happening when you try to install the game or play?  Please post a screenshot or two.

Hello! i downloaded the app just fine from my EA account, when i opened, none of my packs where available, i closed the game and when i try the EA app it says this :( im not really sure if i need another app.I got sims and all of my expansions pack from the Steam app, back on my PC i dont know if thats the problem, since i switched to MAC and the Steam App says its available on windows only, so im wondering if i truly lost all my packs, cause i no longer have a PC, and i cant play on my NEW computer. Pleae help me and thank you.

  • andreaxreadss  I thought you said you'd bought the packs through the EA App, not through Steam.  Any content you own in Steam will only be available in Windows, by design.  So there's nothing you can do except repurchase the content.  You haven't technically lost it in that it would be available if you ever reinstalled the game in Windows, but it's gone for now at least.

Depending on how much content you own, a cheaper Windows laptop, especially a used one, might be a better purchase than another copy of each pack.  Or you could consider buying a subscription to Parallels, which allows you to run a Windows virtual machine on your Mac.  It has a free trial if you'd like to test it out before paying.  It's also not cheap, especially long-term.
