Cant verify cards or other payments on EA Store

I've been trying to buy BF6 for PC via the store but every time I get to the payment stage I get the error

"We were unable to verify your credit or debit card. Please check your payment details and try again. Alternatively try another credit card or payment option or check with your card issuer or bank."

I've tried my debit card and two credit cards with separate banks as well as PayPal but nothing will go through.  Any ideas on what to do as customer service are just blaming my banks but they say they haven't even seen any attempted transactions.
