EA App : Couldnt send request [Unable To Import Friend]

So I bought Split fiction for me and my son to play.

Bought it from EA last weekend, and I play on PC, my son uses Ultimate Gold on his xbox.

Both have EA linked accounts.  I can see him in my Xbox Friends on the import section on EA App.  EVERY time I try and add him as an EA friend, I get the error "Couldnt send request".  When I try and add him the normal way, I cant even find his EA account.  And he is unable to see me when he trys to add friend from the xbox game.

Logged a case with a chat agent, who said it would be checked.  They immediately closed it as complete. Wasted more time and raised it again via chat, who said the same thing.  He then closed it down marked as No fix available.

Please someone point me in the right direction .... Or even just give me advice on how to get past the chat team and talk to someone who actually knows what the hell there doing.

I'm not going to bother raising another case, wasted over an hour now with that.  Will just get a refund at this point ... **bleep** shame as I just got my son an Xbox Series S JUST to play this game with him
