EA app uses too much cpu idle

This happens to me daily. When I notice that my cpu temps have gone up (when my machine is "idle" btw),  I open the task manager to find EA is using 12% of my processor (i have an i9). Even when there are no EA games running, and no EA games recently closed, this occurs.

I find that when this happens, my library is an empty page and I have to reload it.

This "empty library" issue can also happen when I close an unrelated game that I have on another service.

Once I reload the library, the cpu usage slowly begins to drop again. If I don't, the usage persists.

I have background services and overlay turned off, and this still occurs. I do have auto updates on, but no updates have occurred. I also do not do any multiplayer, even though 2 or 3 of the games i own, have that optional feature. My only modded games are thru other services. So why the EA 12% cpu usage when idle?

@ EA... 12% is waaay too much cpu usage, even alleged "bloatware" like icue never uses more than 1 or 2 percent!

I shouldn't have to keep reloading my page in order to temp fix issues with the app.

Fix your app.

I never had any of these issues with Origin.

  • @Grimbolde Thanks for sharing this. We're aware of high CPU affecting some players and have added this to our plans to solve.

I had not heard of the "empty library" being related, so we'll see if we can learn from that hint.

I don't have a timeline but this is on our list of priorities.
