game path on external hard drive with sims 4 studio mac

Hi!

I can't edit the game path on sims 4 studio. I press the 3 dots and set up the path but it doesn't save and says there is an error. I play sims off my external hard drive on a mac m2 chip, but the path keeps setting itself up to Electronic Arts folder in my documents even though I play it off the hard drive where all the files are stored. Can anyone please help?
