NFS Unbound: Cannot Download in EA App - App's Background Services Blocked
Dear all,
I purchased NFS Unbound through Epic Games, and when I tried to install it, Epic Games installed the EA App. I registered to the EA App and logged in. NFS Unbound has already been added to the EA Games library.
But when I clicked the install button, specified the save location, and proceeded, it stayed in the "preparing" state for hours without downloading. Meanwhile, an error appeared: "Background services blocked: We failed to retrieve your info because a firewall or anti-virus program on your device blocked the app's background services."
Please refer to the attached picture.
I contacted EA support and performed everything they instructed. Below, I will list what I did as far as I can remember.
- Running both Epic and EA apps as administrator
- Clearing the app cache of both apps
- Reinstalling the app
- Disabled antivirus (Avast) and firewall
- Uninstalled antivirus and disabled firewall
- Added Epic games and EA launcher, EA desktop, and EA background services as exceptions for firewall and antivirus software and made inbound and outbound rules allowing them to run without any issue related to firewall
- Performed a clean boot
- Made the startup type for EA-related services to "automatic."
However, nothing worked for me; still, the game wouldn't download, and I had the same issue. The support agent asked me to post a question in the forum.
I would be very thankful if anyone could resolve my problem. I really need to play this game. This is my first time to use the EA app.
Thank you in advance. Hope you'll have a great day!
UPDATE: I fixed the download issue. You should uninstall the new EA App and install the older origin app.
Please follow the exact instructions in this thread: Steam Community :: Guide :: How to use Origin instead of EA App and Fix Mouse Input Delay up to step 7. Then you will be able to download the game without any issue.
