Hi dee15644 -- I’m really sorry this has been so frustrating. We haven't "shut the game down," and this is something we can fix together. We’ll take it one small step at a time.
What’s happening is usually just a broken shortcut or a corrupted EA app install. Here’s the easiest way to reset it:
Step 1: Check if the EA app is still installed
- Click the Start button (bottom-left of your screen)
- Type EA app
- If you see it in the list, try opening it from there
- If nothing shows up, it means the app needs to be reinstalled
Step 2: Reinstall the EA app (safe and simple)
- Open your internet browser (Edge, Chrome, etc.)
- Type ea.com/ea-app and press Enter
- Click Download EA app
- When it finishes downloading, double-click the file and follow the on-screen steps
This will not delete your games or saves -- it just repairs the launcher.
If you get stuck on any step, tell us exactly which step and what you see on the screen, and we’ll guide you from there. You’re not expected to already know this stuff.
You’re not doing anything wrong, and you’re definitely not alone here.

I'm also having trouble with the app. I re-downloaded, tried reparing, and now it can't connect to EA. I have verified that my connection is up and running, so unless the EA Servers are being hyper sensitive (it is cold, our connection does get flakey) I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to connect.

Thank you for this. I followed your instructions on CHROME and it fixed my "path not found" issue, for the last 4 days! Not sure why it did that, I am older than dee15644, but thankfully I was married to a techy guy(sadly he passed away and took all his "techy knowledge" , but that does not mean I KNOW that stuff! But it did work for me, thank you kindly! Good Luck, dee15644, it can be very overwhelming when we do not know how to fix - bless EA FORUMS and their wonderful, knowledgeable team!!

Hi ShirleyDont95 ,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this; that truly means a lot. I’m really glad to hear the steps helped and that the issue stayed resolved for you!
Tech problems can feel overwhelming at any age, especially when something suddenly stops working without a clear reason. The important thing is that you gave it a try and got it sorted, that’s what counts. And your kind words about the forums and the team are very appreciated.
Wishing you smooth sailing from here on out. And thank you again for coming back to let us know it worked -- that helps others more than you might realise.
Take care!
