Well, after some searching, it seems that the game is only supported on 32-bit versions of MacOS (and Windows).
Come on EA.... don't you think a friendly message in the EA App would be useful? It's not that hard is it, and would save some of us a lot of time.
Now I notice that the game is showing in the Library under "Unavailable games" (it wasn't there before!). There is no message to say *why* it is not available.

2 years agoIf you look at the Mac system requirements for SimCity™, it says the following:
Mac minimum requirements
- OS: macOS Leopard (10.5.7) through macOS Mojave (10.14.x). This game will only run on macOS versions that support 32-bit applications.
- Processor: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo
- Memory: 2GB RAM
- Storage: 12GB HD Space
- Graphics Card: INTEL HD 3000, NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M or ATI™ Radeon™ HD 2600 Pro or better
- Online Connection Requirements: Minimum 256 kbps download, 64 kbps upload
Meaning that it is likely the case that it will not work for you on your Mac because your Mac/macOS is 64-bit.
Hope this helps.
