Hey everyone,
Many thanks for all the reports.
The issue has been escalated to the EA app teams for investigation.
To support the EA app teams with their investigation, we would like to ask you for some EA app Error Report ID's, if possible. These can be generated via the EA app itself. Please see here how this works. We would also like to know the region (country) you are playing from.
Could you post these EA app Error Reporter ID's here in this thread? Many thanks in advance!
Update 13-12-2022:Is it maybe possible that you own multiple copies of the same game, but via different launchers? Let's say a copy of BF1 PC via the EA app and a copy of BF1 via Steam.
And if you own a copy of the same game(s) via multiple launchers, have you installed both? If that is the case, this can indeed cause issues.
Our suggestion is to try the following:
- Uninstall all BF1 installations (especially the ones installed through Origin or the EA app),
- Reboot the PC,
- Install & launch BF1 through Steam,
- It's important that the games bought from Steam are installed through Steam and launched from Steam for the first time.
Let us know how things go. Also, screenshots from the EA app will help (e.g., does the EA app show that the game is installed after the first launch attempt from Steam?).

Hi everyone, I've tried everything listed here.
New win11, with absolutely all updates, all new drivers, twice reinstalled the game, once repaired it.
I think you'll laugh if I'll tell you that only changing the bf1.exe app to Windows 8 compatibility mode helped me!
Hope this will help others as well.Cheers, Andrew.
I have dowlanded BF1 version on ssteam but it says that i havent download it on ea app and when I try launch it on steam it says "Game cant be launch. Try later" on ea app I cant even try to launch game
I think the issue could be related to, at least for me, the fact that I owned Battlefield 1 previously on EA before buying it on Steam. The issue only started after buying it on Steam. And if I try to directly run the file, it says something about being downloaded by someone else.
Hey everyone I found a potential solution for some of you
This only applies if you already own the game on EA, but also bought it on Steam (to get the DLC cheaper or for any other reason). Literally all you have to do is open EA, and install the game into wherever your Steam installation of the game is. EA will detect it and register the game as being owned on Steam.
And admins, a really easy fix for this problem would be to just add a manual game detection feature.
I'm coming back to this post about 15-30 minutes later, and I've managed to get the game to boot, finally.
Problem: Battlefield 1 won't launch from Steam or EA launcher, purchased on EA and on Steam afterwards.I completely uninstalled the EA launcher, Origin, and Battlefield 1. Then, I reinstalled Origin, only Origin, and Battlefield 1 on Steam, BOTH ON THE SAME DRIVE. For some reason, this setup has worked. I have no idea if installing them to the same drive is the solution here, or if it's some random computer nonsense (It's the Origin launcher, it's equally plausible), but that has not only allowed my game to be launched, but it's even migrated all the achievements I got to Steam, which is nice. Plus, it doesn't launch anything intrusive like the EA app does. I've got no idea if this adds to anything, but I've also got the Origin launcher just open on my desktop. Not doing anything, I just forgot to close it, but that might be important, since it's EA's software. I'm glad to have resolved this after 12+ hours of troubleshooting and research, I just hope this helps others too. Absolutely terrible that I, as an end user, need to do all of this to try to work around a problem that I cannot directly solve. It is 100% a fault on EA's part, nothing I have done or you have done. The mistake I made was purchasing the game on the EA launcher in the first place. The EA launcher is terrible, and I highly encourage you to uninstall it and reinstall Origin.
Edit number 2 because the problems will never ever end.
It didn't launch the next time I tried to boot it up, closing origin and booting from steam seems to have made it work. Also, the problem has now extended to Battlefield 4. 🙂
Original comment was belowI appreciate this information, I have had the exact same problem as you (owning the game previously on EA, then buying it on Steam - only for it to fail to launch)
I tried this as the first thing, and so far, it hasn't worked for me. However, doing this on Origin completely deletes and reinstalls the files, just a heads up for other users in case you may be thinking to do this. It says that it's repairing, but afaik, it deletes everything, and it takes ages for it to reinstall, I'm talking 3 to 4 times as long for absolutely no reason. Oh, plus cancelling the repair deletes all the files so 🙂I'm currently reinstalling the game via steam, if I cannot get this trick to work through the EA launcher, and I can't get any of the suggested compatibility/administrator fixes working either, then I will have exhausted all my options.
For those wondering, this has been my entire day:
-Battlefield 1 installed via EA launcher-Purchased the game via Steam
-Moved "Battlefield 1" folder OUT of "[drive]/EA Games/Battlefield 1" and INTO "steamapps/common/Battlefield 1" -- didn't work
-Uninstalled Battlefield 1 via deleting the files, and later on, completely deleting it from EA launcher's eyes by using Control Panel > Uninstall a program (for those wondering, the steam version of BF1 is called "Battlefield 1 tm" (with that exact spacing), where as I believe the Origin/EA version is called "Battlefield(tm) 1")
-Reinstalled Battlefield 1 through Steam, which took a good few hours -- Didn't work-Tried setting the install of the EA version to the location of the Steam version - Didn't work
-Uninstalled EA launcher and installed Origin -- Didn't work
-Tried setting the Origin install location to the Steam location - Didn't work
-Tried repairing Battlefield 1's files via Origin - Didn't work
So, as of right now, I'm installing Battlefield 1 on Steam again, and I have no idea what I will do if it doesn't work. I just want to play with my friends.
I was going to ask EA's customer service to remove the copy I own on Origin to see if that works, since I feel like that's the problem here, however the customer support is a 72 hour wait via email. No thank you, I don't feel like waiting up to 3 days for a response of "we cannot give you a refund and we also cannot remove it from your account, sorry!"
I despise using the EA launcher and Origin, and I bought it on Steam so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle of using a separate launcher every time I want to play Battlefield 1, and now this.I hope that some kind of customer support rep sees this, because this is Uplay levels of garbage. I have an easier time making some jank russian game from the early 2000s run on modern systems than I have had with goddamn BF1, a game that's barely 6 years old. This is clearly a massive issue, and needs to be fixed. There shouldn't be any kind of auth problem, since both launchers (EA/Origin and Steam) offer the same copy of Battlefield 1 - the "Revolution Edition". This isn't a unique to a launcher edition, so this problem should not be happening. Pull your fingers out and fix this issue that's clearly plaguing a lot of your userbase.

I've been on the phone with EA support, email 100% won't help. My problem is that NONE of my games will install. I've been ignored for a year and tried multiple times to get help. I even see what the problem is through the EA app logs, they've messed up our ownership of games and thinks we don't own them. The logs refer to games as "Offers" and in my logs (And many others) games that won't work are labelled something along the lines of 'Couldn't find offer'.
They should just roll this back to be honest, go back to origin. Or better yet, leave hosting to the only place that does it right, steam. - EA_Leeuw3 years ago

Hey all,
We are still collecting the EA app Error Reported ID's.
If you are experiencing the issue that Battlefield 1, bought via Steam, won't launch via the EA app, please attach an EA app Error Report ID.Thanks.
- @EA_Leeuw You know this is really easy to fix, right? Just forward the following to the dev team:
A current fix is to attempt to install the game via origin to the same path it's installed from steam. So, if they just add a button in the app to discover already existing game files, with the same code used before, it would fix this and potentially future issues as well. - EA_Leeuw3 years ago

Hey @Maple38,
Thanks for sharing this. 🙂
While there might be a temporary solution that works for some players, it can't be considered 'the fix'. Hence why we are investigating the issue, but this requires some additional (previously requested) information. I bought BF1 on steam because is on sale recently, and i downloaded the game & EA app. But when i tried to run the game (pressing the play button), it appears to be running, but after a window called "link2ea" popped out, the game closed itself without even running, and led me to the page where i start(the page where i launch the game).
I've already tried running it on EAapp or steam, and i've also tried unistalling the game and redownload, but nothing worked (Also tried redownloading EAapp)...
My device has: 16GB RAM; RTX3050;
PLEASE GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS OR SOLUTIONS!😢

@5100_percent Hey ! Didn't hear yet aboout this popping up message. Did you try to launch it via Origin ? Ain't yet a solution but maybe at least a hint. Keep us here in touch !
- @woody357ANW I'll try launching it whereby Origin. The first time I downloaded it, the EAapp just simply uninstalled my origin(donn know why). Thanks for ya hint 🙂
- woody357ANW3 years agoSeasoned Ace
@5100_percent well, it can be explainned by the fact there's a corrupted path with game folders. I had crashs when I swapped between those two sofwares. Keep us in touch !

Hey @5100_percent,
I have merged your thread with an already existing thread about this issue.

@EA_Leeuwyes sir as i said i have only one platform and thats STEAM. also i did the submit help in ErrorReporter but when i go to my cases it says you dont have any cases with us!
this is my case number: 46023b16-e77c-4c28-9350-5843565d33b4also i'm not in US or canada i cant call for support sadly.
EA support is really a pain!
also its not my problem only just see steam technical discussions for BF1! this problem just happened for most people just recently!
- @EA_Leeuw i think you should remove "Resolved" and SOlution from this thread your launcher has problem and its for thousands including mine! is our money in vain?
I do not see why the players should send their diagnostics data when the following steps can be run by an employee from EA
- install BF1 from steam (having Origin installed)
- install EA App
- reboot the PC, login only in EA App
- starting BF1 from steam
<-- game will not start from EA App - your future launcher by choice
Looking forwards how this threat will grow with support answers when the EA app is enforced. See my concern from November 2022 in this threat.

good, keep up the work

see above
>Is it maybe possible that you own multiple copies of the same game, but via different launchers?
no
>does the EA app show that the game is installed after the first launch attempt from Steam?).
yes
I bought Battlefield 1 both on Steam and the EA App.
Installed the game through Steam.
When trying to launch it, the EA App shows "An error on our end caused your launch to fail, please try again in a few minutes"
- @pixeldg hi, I always recommend the people I know to launch it through the origin app as it is less problematic and they also agree. So try to uninstall EA app and install the origin launcher. If it doesn't work you can't do much but wait, EA is just funky like that sometimes.
@EA_Leeuw Hello, I don't think I have any error ID's.
Question: Is it maybe possible that you own multiple copies of the same game, but via different launchers?
Answer: Yes, for me this is correct.Question: And if you own a copy of the same game(s) via multiple launchers, have you installed both? If that is the case, this can indeed cause issues.
Answer: No, I have only installed the Steam version.
Your Suggestion:
- Uninstall all BF1 installations (especially the ones installed through Origin or the EA app),
- Reboot the PC,
- Install & launch BF1 through Steam,
- It's important that the games bought from Steam are installed through Steam and launched from Steam for the first time.
Answer: The problem still remains. It's as if the EA App doesn't know that I own Battlefield 1 on Steam as it doesn't show within the EA library (only the one I own on EA App).
The EA App will pop up on the screen, but will quickly dissappear and show the following attached error:
@EA_Leeuw It's important to know that this application will run with Origin but won't work with the new app. While I could use Origin, Origin doesn't work for the newer titles...
