Re: [CLOSED Dec. 2023] "You Don't Have Access" error in EA app for Steam/Epic Games

Just bought Battlefield 5 through steam. I then get a message that says:

"You don't have access - This title may have been downloaded to your device by another user who owns the game. Log in to a different account or restart the app to try again."

I am sharing my steam library with another user that has also bought the game, but I have bought the game on my own account

  • Same here, I purchased Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 through steam and after a successful install etc. I get the exact same "You don't have access" error message.

Note that I created a brand new EA account (because I had one from years ago, but I couldn't remember either the email or password), and tried unlinking and linking it again, but to no avail. I have also completely uninstalled EA Play and Battlefield 3, then reinstalled the two, but the problem is still there.

Note: a number of users on the steam page of Battlefield 4 are reporting the same issue, so this is clearly a more general problem on the part of EA with the linkage of our steam purchases to the EA account.

So here I am, with two games bought on sale, on my computer taking up 90 GB of storage, and because of this ridiculous launcher I cannot play them...

  • Same issue with a just purchased version of Star Wars Jedi Survivor on Steam.  Downloaded Jedi Fallen Order (on Steam) to verify, launches normally through the apps.  Survivor no access.

  • @M4E-Ozzy Well, in following trouble shooting steps for resolving the error, now both games are having the issue.
