Re: EA App Download Error - There's a Problem With Your Download

This worked perfectly for me, you are a legend.

If you had the "something went wrong, please try later" message, its already made the folder in your install directory, but its empty. Follow the above instructions, make a new text document in the folder, making sure its named correctly as the .exe for that program, and change the extension to .exe.

Relaunch EA joke app, wait 10-15 seconds and it will appear as needing an update, but as said, go to the repair option, downloads immediately.

Worked for Dead Space (2023).

@Ashurek96  Oh I had that message, problem is that I can't do that text document and the folder that IS there has stuff in it. I'll even send screenshots of what I find when I try to get step 2 done. I admit I'm not tech smart, I'm probably doing something wrong, but I am trying to do the method that was used.

@GosheharushiJust make a new text document from note pad / word pad on the start menu, save it to your desktop and drag it into the folder. The .exe file is probably in the game folder, delete everything else.

@Ashurek96Just to be clear, in case I'm doing it wrong, do you mean everything but the exe file that was already there? Or including it? If I delete everything but the .txt to .exe file I make and re-open EA, it sees it as Sims not being installed and requiring re-installation[still has some of the extra content as problems]. I'm not deleting the sims folder itself, just what was inside of it like you said.

@GosheharushiDon't delete any files. If you already did, then restore them from the Recycling Bin so that you don't lose any of your saved sims/houses. Otherwise, hopefully EA's cloud backup works, but I wouldn't bet on it.

After looking at your screenshots, it looks like you have a different problem than the original poster in this thread. The original poster couldn't download and play The Sims 4 at all. But in your case, you already have The Sims 4 downloaded and present in your library, but you're trying to download an expansion. There's probably a similar workaround as the one above, but you'd need to know some of the filenames associated with the expansion. Even then, I can't confirm that the workaround will work in your case. My solution above is easiest for games where the game won't download at all.

@sms7one3Thanks! I did delete but I'm not really too worried about my saves or anything. I'll see if I can find the fix for this then, I appreciate all the help that was given here!
