Okies it started working. I ran windows update and it downloaded a small windows security intelligence update and the EA app started working.

wow thats crazy i have not been able to log in for two days now. I have checked i have no updated pending or available. glad your sorted though!
It had stopped working just a few hrs later again so i tried the below mentioned steps
Press windows button+R then type %localappdata% and then press enter and then u should delete the folders EA desktop and electronic arts and after that try running the EA app it should work it worked for me try this method.Helped, thanks!
