@TotallyWicked00 @Anna_Dannir @Loulounounette and anyone else affected, if your computer has a 12th-gen Intel processor, please see the accepted solution in this thread:
If you have a different processor, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know whether Sims 3 has ever worked on this particular computer before, and if so, what, if anything, has changed since then.

Hi,
Only thing that has changed for me is that origin forced me to download the EA app, Now the game doesn't launch at all, i get no error message but all other functions on my computer appear slowed, as if the processor is too busy
@jetstorm1991 Does your computer still run slowly right after you restart it? That's when the load should be at its minimum: right after the startup processes have finished and before you open any apps. If the computer is slow at that time, please let me know what antivirus you use.
The issue could be Microsoft OneConnect, which is throwing a number of errors that it or Windows might be continuously trying to fix. So try disabling OneConnect in the Task Manager, including any related background processes, or even uninstalling it if you can. Let me know whether that helps.
Either way, please also look for Sims 3 errors in the Reliability Monitor. Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day. If you see any errors that mention Sims 3, right-click on one and select View technical details, then copy the info and paste it here. Please include one copy of each distinct Sims 3 error you see, but only from after this problem appeared.

Hi,
i ran the reliability monitor but there were no errors in relation to the sims 3 at all. I had managed to launch the game successfully after repairing it on the ea app and then selecting "play" on the sims3 into the future within the download managed tab, that was the only way the sims 3 launcher would open. Just tried that now and im getting the same problem as before, my computer slows, the processor light is on red permanently, task manager (when it eventually opens) shows the sims 3 launcher active but it isn't and doesn't allow me to open the task. Computer speed returns to normal when I "end task" on the sims 3 launcher
@jetstorm1991 Please try signing into the EA App and putting it in offline mode, then taking your computer offline before launching Sims 3. I realize this isn't a good workaround, but it would be useful to know whether this helps.

HI, @puzzlezaddict
This didn't work unfortunately ☹️
@jetstorm1991 Does Sims 3 open if you run it through Origin? You can reinstall Origin from the link here:
There's no need to uninstall the EA App; just don't try to run both apps at the same time.
I don't have a 12th generation one. I have a 2nd generation one (this computer is old. O-L-D.) But TS3 was running fine on its predecessor and ran fine on this one (for a while) so the hardware on my end is probably not the problem.
For completeness: All the compatability boxes are unchecked.
I'm late returning to this party b/c for several weeks the app insisted I didn't have the base game and I just didn't have the spoons to even try to figure out what was wrong. I managed to get that fixed this evening, but, again, I can't get the game to actually launch. (And a second, corrupted, copy of Generations is still hanging about waiting to be downloaded when I've asked to have it removed because, well, it is corrupted, won't download all the way and just hangs...but that's another problem....)
I suspect that this is MS OneDrive effery, tbh. But if it is, why does 4 play fine?
And how do I disable that if that is the problem?- @Anna_Dannir update: took the advice (found in another thread) and redownloaded DirectX 9 (DX9) from microsoft. And that seems to have solved the problem.
I think that at some point something must have removed that from my computer (because, lets be honest, it's pretty old and has been replaced by newer apps). Unfortunately I don't have a link (I had to restart my computer). But if everything else is good (no compatability checked, not running in Admin, etc) then that might be your problem. - @puzzlezaddict Hey, on the pc I have, I have played sims 3 and sims 4 for more den 6 years but after I got the ea app it wouldn't open sims 4, I discovered that it was bc it was running as an admin. but it won't open the sims 3 either, it just goes right back to the ea app. sometimes it says, the game is already running, even tho it isn't.
@ksras Was Sims 3 previously working on this computer before you installed the EA App? If so, did anything else change between when the game worked and not?
Please also let me know whether OneDrive is running, even if you don't use it, and how full it is.
- @puzzlezaddict Yes anyway have been but when I got the ea app neither sims 3 or 4 worked so in the end I just deleted the whole computer like I reset it. But I later on found out the the sims 4 didn’t work because it was running as an administrator but the sims 3 isn’t. I haven’t ever played it with the ea app but I wanted to yesterday so I downloaded and I press play, then is says launching game and a red bar goes up, ea ap disappear, and seconds later, it just pops up again, so the Sims 3 never opens
@ksras Try reinstalling DirectX 9, as described here:
If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing Sims 3 in that. Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services you normally use. Just sign into the EA App and try to launch Sims 3.
If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

I saw you helped many people. Sorry for my English, I speak French.
Sims 3 won’t launch on my computer and it just keep bringing me back to the EA website.
can you help please, I tried many things but it just won’t work.
@mariafruit Please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.
