No the installer EAappInstaller.exe gives us the option to choose the install-directory of the EAApp itself.
On another PC it works, i have installed it into: G:\EA
But on my other PC i want to install it into the same folder (because on C:\ there isn´t room for an Launcher and it´s only reserved for my operating system, too), i can choose this folder in the installer, but it´s installed in drive C:\.

@Rudolf_Fischer, could you show me a screenshot of this option?
Edit: do you mean this?
That is the Game Library location, the location where the EA app installs the games, not the app itself (as this is not supported).
O.k., that´s a missleading query in the installation process for the app. This query should come up on the first game installation. And you should be able to set this option in the app.
But on other computers i was able to choose the installation directory. And the EA-App is running on G:\EA.
Without beeing able to choose the directory for the app i can´t use it. When will this bug beeing solved? And which registry entries do i have to edit to be able to move the C:\-directory to my desired directory?

Hey @Rudolf_Fischer,
There is nothing really misleading about it I think. It specifically mentions that this setting is for the 'Game library location', so for the games. 🙂 Not for the EA app itself.
So that you can't choose the install directory of the EA app itself is not a bug, but working as intended at the moment. It is missleading. Before at this place you could choose the install-directory of the app. And whilst the installation of the app it´s logical, that you choose the install-directory of the app and don´t set any other settings. This settings the user expects in the app - so after installation. Like dark-mode or not, downlaod games whilst gaming on or off, etc. Steam doesn ask my where to put my games during the staem-installation, but during the game-installation(or addionally in the steamoptions AFTER Steam-app is installed. Even my picture-edition software asks me during the installation of the app, where to install the app and not where to save the pictures.
The ea app is unusable for me without beeing able to set the installation directory. And it´s working in a user choosen directory(i am using it so right at the moment). So wha´ts the problem? So i don´t buy any games anymore because i know after windows-reinstallation i can´t use this game-distribution-platform anymore. And of course, there is fear that ea will try something like this again, even if they release it again.
I asked the very same question but they ignored me, good this one picked some attention, I agree with Rudolf I have a gaming drive where I install everything related to games including launchers and the fact that you guys at EA you think what's better for my PC is just stupid.
We should have the last word when it comes to this stuff, you shouldn't choose what's better for us. Forcing it to pick my other drives kills your installer which is tbh a bad joke.

Thanks for the feedback, all. 🙂
At the moment, the only thing you can change during the installation process of the EA app is the default install location of games, which is mentioned by following the Advanced installation process. At the moment you cannot change the install directory of the EA app itself. Is there any necessity for the app to be in C:\Program Files\EA Games only? or it is a bug? or work in process / beta?
At the moment or forever? EA is famous for doing whatever they want like killing a perfectly working Launcher like Origin and doing one that can't even display all your owned games.
Please just tell me if this is how the Launcher is gonna behave from now on so I can forget about EA games.
Well its made wrong then and needs to be fixed. Its broken and unusable this way.
so why does the ea app give the option to install to another location if it then refuses to install to that location and install into the default location in c:\, makes no sense to not be able to install to any location of my choice
Oh EA! Never change!
2 and a half years later and you still haven't sorted this out. No wonder I haven't bought anything from you guys in years.
As the rep has stated the only thing you can change in the launcher is where the games are installed to, NOT the freakin' launcher itself.
If you want to change the location for the launcher, download the exe (in my case I use Sandboxie so have to move it out of the sandbox to another folder like Downloads).
Hold down SHIFT and right-click on the folder and choose 'Open Powershell window here'.
In Powershell paste the line:
.\EAappInstaller.exe /i DefaultInstallFolder="D:\Program Files\Electronic Arts" (changing location to whatever you wish)(credit to a reddit post).
This will then start the executable and install the launcher to the desired location.
One f'ing line, EA. One line!
Do you have a solution? We need to be able to install EA Desktop wherever we want to.
The app is under no remote circumstances working as intended unless the intent was to have a completely useless installer. I can't even change my file location for downloads, meaning I can't get any new games because my default drive is full, the app should not exist, ATLEAST on origin I could download a game.
will this ever be fixed. There is NO NEED to install it on C, and C only.
I do not want any programs on C, but a lot of bad software engineers only allow their apps on C. Why is that? To bad at coding?
Please fix this, I am, as you can literlly see for 19(!!!) pages and over a year, not the only one concercing about his. There are other gamedistributionplatforms, so i am using them. But hope dies last. I am watching this thread from time to time, if EA has fixed this bug.
