Re: EA Launcher doesn´t install in choosen directory

Today, Origin finally forced me to upgrade to this app and I had the same annoying issue. After some research and fiddling around, I found a way to change the default install path by using a command line argument. If anyone wants to give it a try:

  1. Download the installer from the EA page and navigate to the folder where you saved it. The filename should be EAappInstaller.exe.
  2. Open a PowerShell window (Shift + right-click in the folder and pick Open PowerShell window here from the menu OR go to the address bar at the top by pressing Ctrl + L (or just clicking on it) and type powershell)
  3. Use this command (change the quoted path to your liking but read my edit below first):
.\EAappInstaller.exe /i DefaultInstallFolder="D:\Games\Electronic Arts\EA App"

In this case, the app gets installed in a subfolder called EA Desktop under D:\Games\Electronic Arts\EA App. Works fine here so far.

EDIT: I've added an additional subfolder EA App to the app path because if you ever uninstall the app it deletes the whole folder structure on the same sublevel where the EA Desktop folder resides. This can become a problem if you're like me and put your games library folder in the same place, for example D:\Games\Electronic Arts\EA Games, because it would then get deleted too. Placing the EA app in another and one level deeper subfolder than before prevents this.
