Re: EABackgroundAgent.app using significant energy

If you have everything background-service-related settings turned off, it is working as designed that you need to enter your Mac user account username/password to launch the client. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be another way for the client to start its services otherwise because they require certain permissions.

@Jessycaz @TwiceEveryMoment, since you two mentioned experiencing the exact same issue, could you please confirm again if every background-service-related setting in the app is turned off for you, share an EA app Error Reporter ID here in the thread, and include the EA app logs please?

I am having the same exact issue as the other two gamers. I can confirm I have all the same issues as @TwiceEveryMoment and I can also confirm that every background-service-related setting in the app is turned off. I have attached the .rar file for the Logs... I hope I created them correctly, I apologize if I didn't get everything, it was a tad confusing.

Just adding another voice - am having the same issues as everyone above and have run all the checks suggested.

I don't have the resources to spend time creating .rar files at the moment (thank you @albersxowns for doing so).  I can more easily add screenshots, though, if needed.

Regarding the issue that @Jessycaz mentions, my app will open even when I refuse to enter a password to allow the app to make changes (I just click "cancel" and it still opens).

I hope this can soon be resolved. It's been a pain to have to kill the process via Activity Monitor every time I switch my Mac on - for a month, now - and the security issues are concerning.

Could you please share a screenshot of your Activity Monitor showing the energy points used by the EA app when it's open and when it's closed? Additionally, when the EA app is closed, check if the EABackgroundService is still running and please provide a screenshot of the energy points used by that service.

Attaching a screenshot showing the energy points in Activity Monitor with the EA app open (roughly one minute after opening the app).  I restarted my Mac immediately before.

... and a screenshot taken about 20 seconds after closing the app, showing that EABackground service is still running / using energy.

Hi @EA_Leeuw , I've just run the check again.
 
Two minutes after closing the EA app, it did disappear from the Activity Monitor, without me killing the process. 

I was initially able to get into the app by dismissing the pop about the app ‘wanting to make changes to my computer’ (by pressing cancel), as mentioned in Posts #4 and #9 of this thread.
 
However, if I then try to open the EA app again, I can't get past the pop up by pressing cancel. If I try to, I get error code EC:106 and the app won’t open.
 
So, I have two choices when I turn my Mac on: I either have to open the app and close it completely OR, if I don't want to do that, I have to go directly to the Activity Monitor and kill the processes that have come on at start up (which don't otherwise disappear and which cause the fan to kick in after a while).
 
Yes, everything you mention is disabled in the app.

I'm sending a few screenshots this time. First screenshot is when I noticed it was running without me using EA (reminded me to respond here lol). Second is after opening EA app and waiting a minute or two. Third is of the battery after closing the EA app. Fourth is of activity monitor after a few minutes, the background app is gone and is no longer showing on the battery. So if I open and close the EA app, the background app does close down as well. However, it does start running on its own even with all the boxes unchecked as I didn't start the app in the first place.
