Updates:
Hello all,
Our EA app development teams have been hard at work and have issued several fixes for the EA app, especially addressing the particular Sims 3 DLC download error, "Something went wrong".
Are you continuing to see this error message? If so, please let us know in this thread and be sure to include the necessary details we've asked for here.
If you're seeing the error again in the future, please create a new thread and link to this thread, as this thread will soon be closed.Thank you.
Our teams are still hard at work investigating the issue, but in the meantime, they've released a new update for the EA app. This update includes some fixes that should solve a big part of the problem or at least reduce the frequency of the error messages when trying to download The Sims 3 DLCs through the app.
Now, we're not saying the issue is completely fixed yet, but we'd really appreciate it if you could check if your EA app is up to date (at the time of writing, the latest version is 13.37.0.5550) or try manually updating it using the steps provided here.
[GUIDE] How to update the EA app
If the problem persists, please keep following the steps below and report back to us in the thread.
Thanks a bunch in advance!
If you continue to experience the issue
If you're also experiencing the issue, please take a look at this post from @puzzlezaddict, follow the mentioned steps, and please share an EA app Error Reporter ID with us here in the thread.
[EA Help] Using the EA Error Reporter in the EA app I'm having the same problem. Yesterday I've had to redownload the game and I got the "something went wrong" message for the add-ons. After the newest update, the process gets stuck while "calculating disk space" when trying to download the add-ons.
a7eafadb-deeb-4cb5-a92a-a7843912d159 error for this issue.
I updated the EA app and nothing changed.
- @Kehribar2 If you change the download location, then it works. I also got "calculating disk space", but then I changed the download/install location to a new map on my background of the pc and now everything is installed.
Still didn't work for me... Tried to change folders for the downloafing, too, but no luck. Expansions still won't download. Ticket submitted again.

I was able to download my missing DLC after updating EA App.
Though like @snoes1994 I had to manually set the install directory, otherwise the app get stucks calculating download size.
In my case, it could be because the base game is not installed in default EA App directory (it was moved a month ago in one of my many, many attempts to fix the issue).

Updated EA app to the latest version, still can't install expansion packs for Sims 3, not even one.

Did you check whether a download location is specified?
When downloading I noticed that my downloads were pointing to the folder called
EA GAMES
That's fine for the base game.
I switched for the DLC to download to EA GAMES/The Sims 3
As soon as I noticed that (thanks to the KathleenTJLE's comment), I realized that this was the issue, everything started downloading.

update:
I tried installing in different folder, didn't work.
I tried subscribing to EA Play and even bought the sims3 base game. Now I cant even download the base game anymore. great job EA!
- xpkoalz2 years agoSeasoned Rookie@kathleentjie I can’t even install origin on my pc…
It has to be EA App only for PC.

I had everything installed except Into The Future. I changed the download location and that worked. So now I have it back in my game, I can go back to never using that expansion again.😃
none of the solutions worked for me and I have tried them all multiple times.
my report I.D. is a1f9a9bb-12fd-4f75-8a36-ab97a4ada23f this is for all expansion packs. None of them will download for me
After downloading the new update I redownloaded the sims 3 BASE GAME and then changed the Install location for the DLC from "C:/Program Files/EA Games/The sims 3" (where the base game was downloaded) to "C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The sims 3" and it worked.
If you´re still having issues try restarting the app and removing cache using "app recovery" under the HELP tab.
**EDIT: This "fix" will make CC and mods unusable.
I didn't have a sims 3 folder under electronic arts so I added one but it still didn't work for me
I have also cleared the cache, uninstalled, reinstalled everything a dozen times. I have tried the origin work around and oddly there was no extra content tab or anything in origin to indicate I even owned the expansions. I went back to the EA app. it at least shows I own them. it just won't download for them for nothing. I have tried every solution offered by this forum and EA help to no avail
Tried again, uninstalling, clearing cache, restarting app, redownloading the Sims 3 base game. The base game downloaded, but when I go to download an expansion, the app won't automatically select the folder it needs to go to. I browsed for the Sims 3 folder, as suggested in this thread, and selected the section: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3
However, when I select it, the app shows the folder as C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\\
It seems to include two \\ at the end of the folder name. I copied this address and tried to go to it on my computer, but my computer says it doesn't recognize the folder location. Could those two \\ at the end of the file be causing problems? I tried to remove them, but no matter what folder I select, the EA App adds them on to the download page. Once I press download, I get the same error as before: Something went wrong. Please try again.
I included a screenshot of the file name. Not sure if it's a problem or not... Figured I'd say something though, just in case.

Idk why but today it started to actually download the expansion packs (after over 3 weeks)
I had left the EA App offline and would check in every few days to see if it finally downloads them and today it did!
I wish I knew why but maybe it's working for others now aswell?I am having the same issues, I removed the Sims 3 and all expansions (only into the future and movie stuff was not downloading before) and I removed and reinstalled the EA App and now none of my expansions will download. I also tried to create a new folder in c program files and it only worked for the base game. I tried to change the install direction for the add ons after clearing the EA App cache files and it still not working...It just says something has gone wrong.

- gwenleah2 years agoNew Adventurer@peskycil87 Curious, were you able to at least download the Sims 3 base game? I can't get it to download, since I uninstalled it 2 days ago.

Is there any update to this at all? I still cannot download anything from the base game regardless of what I try. I know I have expansions on my account as (oddly) I have some of the DLC in my base game (i.e. the Limited Edition Plants vs. Zombies objects) but nothing I've tried seems to work. Tech support just told me "an update will be coming soon" which is perfectly vague.
Since this has been updated recently, I might contribute:
I followed the instruction from puzzlezaddict, fully uninstalling Sims 3, then EA App, reboot, reinstall EA APp, and Reinstall.
To my surprise, the expansion packs were initially stuck at "Calculating Size" but when I tried to change the install location they began installing!Pets is the only pack that refused to install.
When trying to reinstall it, I noticed that it keeps pushing "Create a Pet demo", which makes me think the download is pointing to the wrong depo.I´ve now also tried downloading the base game along with DLC on a folder just directly on the desktop which also worked for me.
If that doesn't work then I feel your pain@gwenleah yeah the base game downloaded no problem...just none of the expansions, and its weird because originally all my expansions were working except two and when i uninstalled and reinstalled everything none of them would work now.
