Re: New EA launcher won't launch Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order Steam version

Hi, this got the game to launch for me, thank you! However now it won't recognize any controller, tried with ps4 and ps5 controller, wired and wireless. It was working a few months ago with the old Origin launcher. Are you able to use a controller with this method?

Would this theoretically work for Mass Effect Legendary Edition as well?  People are running into this same exact issue with all EA games on Steam.

I had no trouble using my controller so I’m not sure why it wouldn’t work. Sorry!

I didn’t try it but I would assume so. If there are two executables then you could definitely try launching both and see if one works.

Yeah, the SWGame-Win64-Shipping.exe did not work for me. Receive the error "the application was unable to start correctly. (0x000007b). It was installed on a secondary 2TB nvme SSD. Trying to reinstall on my OS drive nvme now. If that doesn't work I'll try it on my old 3TB HDD. So far none of the fixes I've found online have worked for me to get this game to run.

Yeah, this is completely ridiculous.

Bought Fallen Order on steam on sale.  I own the Origin version but wanted it on steam and it was cheap.  Clicking play just launches the EA app briefly, then it closes and says your game couldn't launch due to an error on our end.  

Launching the game directly from the .exe in the steam folder works, but then it doesn't track achievements, playtime, etc.  

Have tried verifying files, running EA desktop as administrator, every common 'fix' posted on these forums to no avail.

Absolute * service.  

Did you ever solve this? i have the same issue.   I had 10 hrs playtime on an EA play trial then bought the game on sale on steam.  Game just will not launch, and if i try run it from the shipping exe as suggested i get none of my progress and the game starts again from the beginning.

This issue is being tracked but I wanted to follow up and see if any else is still running into the issue. Let us know how you resolved it and we will pass that info along to others running into the same issue and the team for review.

I am having this issue as well, it's very frustrating and no fixes have worked. EA App is always telling me that it has no connection to the internet.

Same issue.  When trying to launch the game from steam, it hangs for a bit, then eventually the attached EA app error pops up. Re-installed the game and EA app multiple times, and keep getting the same error.

Let's see if the following help with that one: Sometimes a simple update or refresh can resolve that error.

For Windows

• Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer
• Type in %temp%, and hit Enter
•  Delete everything it allows you to delete
• Reboot your PC

• Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates
• Install/Repair your VC++ files for the game (Microsoft VC++ Link)
• Connection and Advance Connection Guides
• Untick the options in LAN Settings (make sure nothing is checked under Proxy Server)
• Change DNS settings (You can use the public Google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4, unless there is a different DNS you would rather use) 
• Reset Windows Host File

If these do not work, try the following and see if they connect.

• Put your device in a Clean Boot then launch the game
• Try the Game in different Compatibility settings
• Try a new Windows user account

I tried all of these fixes with no success. I finally decided to just wipe the whole computer and start over. After redownloading steam and the EA app I still have the exact same error. There seems to be no fix for this issue, our computers are not the problem here, your app is broken.

@Arceusrox That specific error is not a PC issue but a network issue. Something is blocking the EA App from connecting to the internet. That could be the modern, router, network, firewalls or antivirus. If you wipe a PC and start over, depending on what all was installed again, or what permissions are set, how you connect to the internet etc, you could run into the same issue.

Can you connect to a hotspot and see if you are able to that way?

FYI, I don't know if this will help anyone, but I finally got Fallen Order to work launching via Steam (and it launches the EA App).  After several attempts of reinstalling both the EA App and Jedi Fallen Order, nothing worked.  What finally worked was installing them both on the same hard drive.  When I installed them both on my C drive it worked.  Maybe the EA app has an issue not finding the game if it's not on the same drive?  dunno...
