Welcome.

I believe that the EA app will indeed scan for already downloaded files that are in the download folder of the game and start from there, however it could be that it's not something that the EA app is showing. Regarding the no free space left; because you have less now left on your SSD than the original size of the game, it can indeed be the case that the EA app now won't download/install the game because of this, since it sees the original size of the game as the size required to download/install the game.

The best thing you can do at the moment is indeed manually remove the already downloaded files and then see if the EA app allows you to download/install the game again I am afraid.

    @EA_Leeuw i have the same problem and i tried your way, i copied the current files 50% of the game to external SSD , then deleted the game folder, and stared new download after 1% i paused the download and paste the game files from SSD into game folder but when i resume the download it start from 1% not from 50%
