I'm playing on a Mac, and I was recently forced to switch over from Origin. Now, the first time I launch the EA app each day, my Mac gives me a message that the EA app "wants to make changes" to my computer and it requires me to submit my admin password. At first, I had "application updates" turned off, so I thought maybe this was the problem (even though it's supposed to prevent updates), so I turned it on. Makes no difference. I have to put in my password as though the application is updating every single time I launch the app for the first time that day. It does not ask for my password if I launch the app again later on the same day. Is this normal? Is there any way to work around it? CM edit: edited title for clarity.

@PandoraTO Yes, seems to be related to security permissions on macOS Ventura and later. It's a minor irritant but nothing more.

@Bluebellflora, thanks for the reply. I thought then that maybe I could get around it by adding the EA app to App Management, but that doesn't work.

Let's just say that when you go from having no irritants (Origin) to having several minor irritants, it doesn't exactly feel like an improvement. 😆 Thanks again!

I've just made the switch to the EA app in the last few days and I have this issue as well. I agree that it's just a minor irritant (the app has been working fine for me), but it would be nice if it could be fixed please!

Hi everyone,

Just for the record: When the “Enable background services” setting is toggled off in your EA app for Mac settings, it is working as intended that on every boot of the client, the macOS prompt to input your macOS username and password pops up.

I hope this clarifies a few things.

Go into Macintosh HD > Users. There should be a root folder in there:

Trash the Library folder.I've tested this and I now don't get prompted for my Mac password every time I open EA App. My game launches normally too 🙂 the folder recreates when you restart your Mac though.

@Bluebellflora, I don't have a "root" folder at Macintosh HD > Users. The only folders I have there are "Guest," "[myusername]" and "Shared."

I do have an Origin folder at Library > Application Support > Origin, but it doesn't have an "Installer Data" folder, it has folders called "CatalogCache," "DownloadCache," and "LocalContent," plus a file called "ClientInfo.plist."

Ah glad you replied and thanks for tagging me. I’ve edited my post slightly. Interesting you don’t have a root user in Users. Which version of macOS are you running? The folder you reference is different to the one in root.

@Bluebellflora, yeah, I thought that was odd too, but I think once, a very long time ago, my stepdad screwed up the migration of one of my old Macs to a new one, so now sometimes my folders and applications are not where you'd think they would be. For example, I can't find The Sims 4 application just by going to Applications in the finder; I have to go to Macintosh HD > Users > [myusername] > Applications. And the only applications found there are my EA app and Steam games. All my other applications (including the EA app and Steam) are in the Applications folder in the finder. Weird, eh?

Anyway, I'm running Sonoma 14.2.1. Thanks!
