Re: Resolved - Error 500 - "Something went wrong..." - 10 Mar. '23

@Hface44  What happens when you try to play?  If you see an error message, please post a screenshot.

Origin is no longer supported in Windows; we're all pushed to the EA App now.

@puzzlezaddict Attached is a screenshot of what happens when I click on a game. It won't even download the game to try to play it. I've cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled, cleaned up my drives, made sure I have plenty of space, run as Administrator, disable security settings, etc and nothing works. Every time I get this same screen.

  • Hello @Hface44   when you run as Administrator, did you open the file from Start? Try to open the file directly from the folder in

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

Find the executable file EADesktop and right-click on it, then choose Run as Administrator. The current version of the app is 12.130.0.5387

@GiardiniDiMarzo Thank you for the tip! It helped to get the screen to show the option to download. Unfortunately, now the games are just stuck in "Preparing" mode and not actually downloading. I tried with a couple different games. The first was preparing for over 30 mins. Then I restarted the app and got a different error but after a couple tries, was able to get the download option again and tried a different game. This one has been preparing for about 25 mins and no progress has been made. Not sure what to do from here.

  • @Hface44  Try it this way. With the app closed, open Task Manager and look for any active EA processes in the background and close them. Restart the EA app as administrator again from the path I wrote above and see if the situation unlocks. If not, try the suggestion to run an App Recovery.

@GiardiniDiMarzoThank you! I tried that an now am getting another error message (attached). I did the app recovery and then tried to restart the app but I'm back to getting the original 500 error with no option to start a download. I'll keep trying to reinstall and run as an administrator but I think there may be something going on from EA's side that I can resolve ☹️

  • @Hface44 omg I'm so sorry to hear that, I don't know how to help you further... the steps I wrote were the ones who fixed the problem for me... I'm so sorry I can't help you... Did you open a ticket on the app?
