EA App Crashed Windows?

I launched the EA App and switched to offline mode. I left the room for about two minutes and came back to the PC on standby/blank screen. When I tried rebooting the PC it stayed on a black screen and I ended up having to restore windows to an earlier version from two days ago. When I went to open the EA app again, it was no longer installed properly and I had to repair it from the launcher. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what this could have been caused by. I did not think it was an issue with the app at first but it is a bit strange that the app was no longer working after my PC crashed, so I assume the app caused some issue.
