Thanks for providing this! Let's try the following:
- Clear the cache for the EA App
- Run the EA App as an administrator
- Check for any background applications blocking the EA App

We tried those and they didn’t work.
On the EA app it says the Sims 4 is running though steam but it was brought on EA not though steam, could this be the problem?

Did you ever previously own the game through Steam, or have your EA account linked with Steam?
The base game is now free to play, so you can link your Steam account to your EA account, and download the base game in Steam to play that way to get this error cleared up. If you run into any troubles with this, please let me know!
I didn’t have a steam account linked to EA but we have done that last night and it worked. Thank you for your help.

I am having the same issue as @Stoneboden and tried everything you told them to do and nothing, STILL cannot play Sims 4..very frustrating. I don't know what else to do. I did not buy the Sims 4 through Steam or EA. But..I did download on Steam when you told them to link their accounts. I was able to link the accounts with the free download through Steam and still nothing. Very frustrating as I have a lot of packs as well.
