Re: Star Wars Squadrons via Epic Games Won't Launch x EA app

Post marked as Solution for Player Visibility. Please read.

Hey everyone,

Many thanks for all the reports.

Is it maybe possible that you own multiple copies of the same game, but via different launchers? Let's say a copy of Star Wars Squadrons PC via the EA app and a copy of Star Wars Squadrons via Epic.

And if you own a copy of the same game(s) via multiple launchers, have you installed both? If that is the case, this can indeed cause issues.

Our suggestion is to try the following:

  • Uninstall all Star Wars Squadrons installations (especially the ones installed through Origin or the EA app),
  • Reboot the PC,
  • Install & launch Star Wars Squadrons through Epic,
    • It's important that the games bought from Epic are installed through Epic and launched from Epic for the first time.

Let us know how things go. Also, screenshots from the EA app will help (e.g., does the EA app show that the game is installed after the first launch attempt from Epic?).

  • been in contact with EA support for more than two weeks on similar issue.

finally I've solved it by myself, and maybe it will help you.

before you launch the game, start the EAdesktop (C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop\EADesktop.exe) and login.

once you've logged in successfully, launch the game from the Epic launcher.

it should than recognize the account and ask to link them.

Just letting you all know, nothing the "tech support" people post here will help you.
I've had this problem for over a year, it affects my whole game library, thousands of others are the same. The EA app thinks we don't own the games. In essence, when they dropped the EA app, they kinda goofed and stole your ownership of the games. This can be seen in the EA app logs, it refers to games as "offers" and none of mine are valid... Hundreds worth in games. Mental how such a massive multibillion dollar company managed to not only make this happen, but refuse to be of any help whatsoever.

I've been in this situation so long I ended up trying to even contact a youtuber that covers gaming news etc. But he took a bag from EA to play 2042 recently so no luck there. The gaming industry truly is a joke in 2022.

  • Well, I have been reading the  whole post and I don't see a working solution to it there

I have got StarWars Squadron from EPIC and when I try to install it I get this screen (see attached)

I have origin & EA app both installed and working and the problem seems to be that EPIC and EA are not linked and I don't know how to link the 2 platforms

Clear advise on that would be appreciated, so that I can install the game.

    Thanks

    Daniel

  • Hello again! I wanted to play with Star Wars Squadrons again, but the same problem popped up as last time, no matter what i did: I installed the game through the epic launcher, gave the games executable (and the launcher too) admin priviliges (start as admin), started the game from the epic launcher, it opens up the EA app, the games launcher pops up (small window), the Easy Anti cheats blue bar fills up fully, stays there for about a minute, then crashes back to the EA app without any error message.
I was angry that this problem wasnt solved yet and i have some time on my hand, so i formatted all the drives in my PC (after saving the important data to an external drive), installed windows 11, did all the updates but installed nothing else, restarted the PC, downloaded and installed the Epic launcher and the EA app, downloaded the game again through the epic launcher, started it from the epic launcher, and then it crashed back again to the ea app. Gave admin priviliges, restarted the PC, started again, crashed again. Nothing else was installed, so nothing could interfere. Then i installed another game with Easy Anti Cheat (War Thunder), and it worked perfectly, and so did Hogwarts Legacy which is a newer title, so im a 100% sure that its not a driver issue either.
I suspect that the problem is not on my end, please help!

I tried from Steam and got this message. So I uninstalled the Steam version and tried downloading it through EA app instead and it's been stuck on "preparing" for about two hours now. And that's after all day uninstalling and reinstalling the app just to get it to even allow me to download. Is this EVER going to be fixed? Because I was seriously willing to drop cash on the entire series during the sale but if I can't play it there's no point.

EA Squadrons seems to be incompatible with latest Windows versions.

Support from EA appears to be non-existent, and they have no attempt to addressed or fix this issue.

Most other software companies have fixed such problems, but not EA Games.

I recommend to avoid products from this company.

That would be nice. The launcher does not want to connect for me though. Nothing wants to connect to EA.
