Re: [Steam] - Dragon Age Inquisition won't launch with EA app

Good day all,

As the title indicates I am having an issue with running the game through steam. Played the game for 5 solid days with no major issues. The game stopped working roughly 3 hours ago when I took a break. Came back and this issue started up. I hit the "start button" in my steam library, the EA App window comes up and goes through its "thing", then the EA window disappears, next a steam window appears for a moment indicating that the game is launching, then that window disappears and then everything repeats from the EA App window popping up.

I have already reinstalled the game and the EA App

I Verified the files through steam.

I made sure all drivers and apps were up-to-date.

I made sure that all steam folders and files and DA:I files were in the allowed lists of my Anti-virus protection apps and firewall.

I performed a test run by turning off all of my Anti-virus protection apps and then attempted to run the game, but the same issue occurred.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @prj365, could we get a dxdiag as well, please? 🙂 Might help us figure out what's going on. Which AV apps are you using, by the way? Have you tried doing a clean boot then running the game?

  • Good day @Leora85 ,

As requested, please see the attached DxDiag.txt file.

My anti-virus programs are AVG Free, Adaware free version, Windows defender, and Malwarebytes Premium Version.

Yes, I have performed a selective startup and a diagnostic startup with MSConfig. Unfortunately, the issue still persisted.

FYI, Up until the issue occurred I was playing the game with no mods at all. The game worked the moment the installation was completed, so at the time while it was still working I had not added it to any of my anti-virus apps or the firewall.

FYI2, I was able to find a workaround by uninstalling the EA App and installing the Origin Thin Setup, and selecting the option to not have the Origin app update automatically. Though I am not sure how long this workaround will work and I would appreciate any assistance in getting the game running with the EA App as it was intended when it was first installed and ran.

    Regards,
