Hey Everyone,
I wanted to follow up on this one and see if yall were still having an issue launching the game through Steam.
If you are please let us know and give us a brief description of what happens so we can take a look into this further. *Respectfully*. Did you release a patch for DAI to fix the launch problem?, no right?.
hen you already know the answer, because the problem won't fix itself. The only improvement over previous attempts is that the app now minimizes and I get a notification that it's been minimized during gameplay. And then just like previously nothing happens, the game reverts to not running and the app (both Steam and EA) say that I just played the game.
Did you do something? I guess not. as It still doesn't work and the issue is clearly not on our side. Fix it already, we paid for a product which we have not access to since months! Didn't buy a EA product since then and don't plan to do so in the near future, if it helps to "motivate" the efforts. Even amoung my friends EA products are greatly avoided due to a lot of issues with your stuff and until you fix that, it will be communicated as such.
@EA_Shepard
I've been having this problem since the update to the EA Launcher.my game is downloaded in the default Steam Directory (Steam/steamapps/Common)
I launch through Steam and EA Launcher to the same result; EA opens if its not already, asks me for administrator privileges (I set that while trying to fix). I approve. EA then closes. Wait a few seconds, EA then reopens. Game never launched.
I have redownloaded DA:I 3 times, even using solely the EA app to bypass Steam entirely. Completely Reinstalled EA app. Fresh Boot of my PC. The works.
Nothing seems to fix it

@F4celessK1ng Is Steam, the EA App, and the game all installed on the same drive? Do you have more than one? I have an SSD for Windows and an HDD for everything else.
By what you said it sounds like a permission issue somewhere. Did you disable your antivirus, and add exceptions for the game into the firewall?
Sometimes permission like UAC Controls within Windows or that Window permissions pop-up happens when Windows is locked down prevents it. Especially if the game is closing down. Can you attach a DxDiag for me?
@EA_Shepard
I have 2 drives, C: is an SSD for Windows and other programs plus some games i want to run faster. D: is an HDD for the more general stuff
the EA App is currently installed to my C: drive, Steam to my D: drive. I've had DA:I installed to both drives while trying to troubleshoot (currently in the D: drive)
The only Antivirus I have atm is Windows Defender, and I disabled it for this, though I never specifically added an exception. This is the exact same thing others, including myself, have described. This has nothing to do with permissions being locked down or incorrectly set up. This is what happens when you run a program as administrator, which is what you folks have suggested several times. I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't be aware of this. Can you just tell us if ANYTHING is being done to look into fixing the problem?

@F4celessK1ng Can you uninstall the EA App from C: and reinstall and default it to D: same location?

@Wulfypants42 The team is aware of it yes. What they are doing specifically we cannot say. What is being updated is up to the development teams for the games, so when there is an update they let everyone else know and then we let you know.
@EA_Shepard Just reinstalled EA App to the same drive, no change in result I'm afraid
EDIT: wait, seems we can't change the install location of the EA App? Just where games install to, an interesting design choice.- EA_Shepard3 years ago

@F4celessK1ng When you click on the install, you have to edit the install manually. When you click on install there is a customized setup
Then you change the location of the location to match the same drive as the games as normal. You just change the drive letter and keep the rest the same.
That changes the location that games are installed to, which has no effect as my DA:I is installed with Steam games.
The Launcher itself is still forcibly installed to C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/EA Desktop/EA Desktopto attempt to manually move it from that location will break the launcher, resulting in an error when attempting to launch

I just want to make sure that all downloads that happen are pointing to their default locations on the same drive. Moving the EA App, or those folders don't need to happen.
I see. Well that much is done then, no change at the moment.

@F4celessK1ng Can you take a screenshot of the message you are getting about being Admin?
@EA_Shepard Because I set launch as admin in properties, this is what comes up when launching the game. After hitting yes EA app will close as if attempting to launch the game, then reopen

Gotcha, can you try the following and see what happens for me?
Remove the Admin option in the properties
Change UAC Controls within WindowsRun the EA App Updater from the install folder - By default, this is at C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop.
That Message is typically the Windows message about giving access to a program but I want to rule out all other things first just in case.
Did all of the above to the same end.
No permission request anymore of course.
Changing UAC didn't seem to yield results
EDIT: well not entirely true, there is now an EA pop up, that resembles a blank log in window- EA_Shepard3 years ago

@F4celessK1ng Apologies if this was done already. Have you updated your GPU drivers with a fresh install where it deletes the current ones? Blank images typically come down to one of the following below. If the App is now up but blank, it could be something blocking it.
Delete Windows Temp Files
- First, make sure you close as many programs as you can
- Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer
- Type in %temp%, and hit Enter
- Delete everything it allows you to delete
- Reboot the PC
Optional Registry clean-up
- install CCleaner (it's free) from here
- Run Registry cleaner
- Click fix all
- Do not back up files
Nvidia
- Try the NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System
- Restart the PC
EA App
- EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)
- Install/Repair your VC++ files for the game (Microsoft VC++ Link)
- Download and update DirectX
@EA_Shepard
Most of these were new things I hadn't tried yet.
But while the CCleaner was good for the overall health of my PC, I'm afraid none of these worked to fix Dragon Age- EA_Shepard3 years ago

Same thing as before, no launch, no error.

@F4celessK1ng Have you tried the below? If it just isn't launching I feel as though something is blocking it.
- Try a Clean Boot
- Try Safe Mode with Networking
- Try a new Windows Account
Clean boot I already tried to no success. Safe Mode I couldn't get the EA App to launch.
Making an entirely new Windows account did actually work, I got the game loaded no problem.
Not the most ideal solution... but I guess if I can't find the problem I could just have a second account solely for playing Dragon Age haha
