Re: Tray icon disapeared

Recently did a clean Windows 11 install due to some hardware upgrades. Installed the EA App without any issues, my problem is I can't get the app to minimise itself to the system tray. it's either open on the desktop or minimised to taskbar. Can't get the EA App Icon to appear in the system tray. Automatic launch on startup is enabled and so are the background services.

    Hi @zawmbeezpl,

    Do you only notice this when automatic launch on startup is enabled, or also when that is disabled?

    With the client open and in focus, and you click on the X (close button) in the top-right corner of the screen, does it also not minimise itself to the system tray?
  • Hi there, it's exactly as you mentioned. The icon isn't there regardless of the automatic launch enabled or disabled. Also, if the client is open and in focus and I click the X it just closes without minimising to the system tray. Also also, I can literally see the EA App icon appear for a second and then disappear from the system tray every single time I boot up my PC.

    • I started to see this issue last weekend when I did a clean install of Win 11 due to some hardware upgrades.
    • My App version is 13.180.0.5693 (81799-d331986dfd)
    • Yes my app is fully up to date
    • Here's my report ID e3c10f18-3f2d-4173-99fc-a4222a437a5c
  • I realized this issue was there last January, running version 13.104.0.5617.

    I tried at that time both the Clear Cache as well as the Repair App...no change...issue there.

    I have since then kept the Autoupdate always active, went through 13.173.x.xxx and now I have updated to 13.180.0.5693

    I created now the Report Id: a053455d-7e0c-479f-8213-0bbbeb22270a

    I attach screenshots and the collected logs.

    I updated once more, now running version 13.188.0.5701 and the issue seems solved. I tested with a few restarts of the PC and for now the EA Desktop icon is consistently back in the systray.

    I don't know why this is marked as solved, this is not solved, only workaround is to sign out and sign back in.

    Which post is marked as a solution? The one asking for more details on the issue? There is no solution posted, a workaround is not a solution.

  • I have solved reverting the language change I made. When I switched language from spanish to mexican I started to have the problem. Reverting that change was my solution.

    On top of having to sign in/accept TOS every app launch app icon disappeared from notification area

  • addition: the icon appears for a split second after logging in/accepting the TOS and then disappears

    lmao same 
    app icon disappears from the taskbar when I start a game, so I can't accept invites or replay to messages. 
    I have to close the game for the app to appear again. 

    A 7 billion dollar company that can't even develop a proper game launcher. What an embarrassment.

    Give this guy a medal! thanks @Sarandinga2 I reverted my language settings as well and EA app appeared in system tray again.
