Re: TS4 PC Error 'DisplayName Field Missing From Registry' Since May 28th Patch
Hello! After updating the Sims today when I go to run the Sims within the EA App the error Display Name field missing from registry appeared.
I first tried from the EA Forums
Close and Exit the EA app.
Open Windows File Explorer and copy and paste into the address bar via provided Url
If you can't copy and paste you can enable the View hidden files and folders in Windows option via insert link steps and navigate to the folder manually.
In the License folder where you should be if you've followed the above-shared steps delete all files that you can see.
If you can't see any please enable the View hidden files and folders in Windows option via insert link steps.
Open the EA app again and perform an App recovery
Try to launch the game again the game should now work.
So then I went to uninstall both EA and the Sims 4 to give everything a fresh start. Problem is that Revo Uninstaller didn't even recognize the apps existence when looking it up so it got a bit tricky
EA App Uninstallation I was able to uninstall the EA app by switching Revo into Hunter Mode on the EA App desktop icon and then manually delete the EA apprefresher since I think that was preventing Revo from fully uninstalling EA. I'm 95 percent certain the EA app is fully off my computer now.
Sims 4 Uninstallation I haven't been able to uninstall the Sims 4 successfully. I wasn't able to find the desktop icon for Hunter Mode but I found the file in Programs Files and deleted EA Games and Electronic Arts no desktop icon to generate from there unfortunately. The Electronic Arts file in Documents is not uninstalling even after switching to administrator via properties or having command prompt try to do it in admin mode.
