Check if you have the game with "run this program as administrator" and deactivate it just worked for me and I had the same problem.

How can I get the option to run it as administrator? This error just started for me today out of nowhere. I was literally playing the game, closed it down to relaunch and now cant open it anymore. All my permissions in security tab are checked. I don't know where to see the Run as Administrator option, please a hint.
Hmm, apparently I just had to close and relaunch the EA app like 4 times...it kept loading incorrectly but on the 4th try, it worked. God, I wish I could just launch my game through Steam like I used to. Never had such problems back then.

I had purchased the Sims 4 and a large number of DLC's on Steam, not Origin, back in 2022.
Origin updated to the "EA App Beta", and now I can't play my game offline.
I agree with the others; it's ridiculous that we can't play games offline, that we've purchased and spent hundreds on DLC's.
Why does Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3, work offline on the EA App, but the Sims 4 won't?
My steps to launch the game:
i. I connect to the internet and open Steam in Online mode.
ii. I then switch Steam to use Offline mode.
iii. I open the EA App Online and modify it's setting, to Offline.
iv. I then try to run The Sims 4, from Steam - as I've always done.
v. The game does not launch and the EA App merely displays a "Error EC:203" message.
Please note:
i. I have Administrator rights on my laptop and UAC has been turned off.
ii. I've also disabled UAC in the registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
-> EnableLUA=dword:00000000

Well now today mine isn't working AGAIN...F*** this sucks. Games are supposed to be to destress, not cause more stress!
It keeps getting stuck in EA Beta. I don't WANT A BETA VERSION! I just want to play my game.I found a fix: Run the "EA Updater" app, mine had to update and now it works. The app itself doesn't update directly, for some reason, they put that ability in a separate app.

Pathetic EA! Get your app to work offline, when one launches The Sims 4 from Steam! I've spent hundreds on this game and its DLC's.
I used to be able to:
i. Start Steam in Offline mode.
ii. Start Origin in Offline mode.
iii. Play my freakin' game.
