I have a persistent issue with The Sims 4 showing the error: “Game license is invalid. The app couldn’t read the game’s license file.”
I’ve already:
- Cleared the EA App cache multiple times
- Ran EAUpdater.exe
- Fully uninstalled and reinstalled the game + DLC more than three times
- Unlinked and relinked my Steam account
- Verified I’m logged into the correct EA account that owns the game
- Tried launching online and offline
- Deleted all the ".dlf" files in the "License" folder (C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EA Services\License)
- Deleted the entire "License" folder
The error has persisted for more than 9 days by now.
EA Support advised to post this issue here to bring more visibility to this issue.

I'm having the same problem. Only I can't do the EAUpdater.exe because it says it doesn't exist
Don't you have it in here (on PC) C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop
