When I try to run The Sims 4 game, I keep getting this message. "The app couldn't read the game's license file, so If the problem continues, try clearing your cache."
I have been having this problem since the last EA App update. I can run other games with the app. It seems only The Sims 4 is affected.
I have cleared the cache several times as suggested. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App, as well as launching the EAUpdater.exe. I did the repair game option a couple of times. I have disabled my anti-virus and VPN. I have tried to find any solutions on the forum, but I have only seen other players posting about having the same problem, but not getting any answers or help.
I have been playing The Sims since The Sims 1 was released. I was even a beta tester of Sims Online. I have spent so much time and money on this game and I feel like I'm just being left out in the cold. EA just wants my money, but can't be bothered to help when they break the game.

Why are my posts being moved here. My games have not been removed from the app. Can someone please help, instead of trying to bury the issue.

Hi! I have the same problem with The Sims 4. I'm using the STEAM version. The license is invalid...
I have tried many actions from the forum and I have doubts that this is a problem in my PC, most likely a problem on the part of the EA APP. - Salla-97112 years agoSeasoned Newcomer
Hey, I am having the sama problem with the sims 4. I have tried clearing my cache more times then I can remember, I have unintalld and reinstalld both the game and the app but nothing is working, I just want to play the game. ☹️

I've lost out to the free daily login items event because of this. It's really disappointing that we can't get any help.

Right? and all I wanted was the mini fridge ☹️ Why did it have to be a login event, i wish it was just a normal free upate, just think how many players cant login because of graduation, work, school or family events. or like us that cant get the stupid game to work -_-

This is insane from EA not going to lie. All I want to do is run the game offline with mods, and yet I can't even after reinstalling the game, clearing my cache, and verifying game files through steam. I would literally be able to run the game fine if I didn't have to go through EA and instead could just run it with steam. Absolutely horrible from them. Mind you I can run the game fine online with no mods which should show that my game license if fine. However, after switching the client to offline it gives me the same error 205 that my game license has expired. The most horrible game and client experience I have ever seen.

I understand how you feel, but that isn't going to happen. It's an EA game, not Steam. Simply you bought the game via Steam. Steam itself cannot add any extra game file fuctionality than the EA app does, as its on the EA app.
Best, to buy on the launcher that owns the game. Two launchers one game. The amount of problems I seen this cause by reading posts, and once myself over two years ago is a lot.
I stopped that practice, so EA games, purchased through EA app only. No extra launcher involved. Since doing that over two years ago I have had not one problem, and can easily "repair," which is the same as Steams "verify," every game.
Worth considering in future.

I'm having the same problem. I would love to know why the error code suggests relaunching the game in online mode when I'm already online. I've checked my internet connection and I restarted my modem. Maybe i'm taking the error code too literally, but this is driving me nuts. I just want to play the game I've spent so much money on.

A lot of people have reported the same. I think you can take it literally.
If you have time search in the EA app section. EA-Illium provides answers for
loads of stuff. Good luck. Oh and EA-Barry too.

Over two weeks later and still nothing. Not surprised any more by the pure ghosting from this company. Only thing I get from them is messages to buy the newest DLC for a game I can't even play. And haven't been able to since May 2024.

I have four games in my EA App Library. Before The Sims 4 and one other game was giving me the Game license in invalid error message. But I was able to play the other two games. Now when I went to try to play those games, they are now giving me the error message. This is a problem with the app, not with the games. Will someone help me please. This is ridiculous how little this company cares about it's paying customers who have supported them for years. I started playing the Sims when it first released, 25 YEARS AGO. I feel like that loyalty just has been tossed out the window.

Hey everyone, are you still encountering this issue? If so, please share details like your platform, operating system version, whether you own the game digitally or claimed it via EA Play, which launcher you're using, and any other relevant info. The more details, the better.
Thanks!

- Platform - PC
- Operating System Version - Windows 8 ( I know its below what is recommended for the Sims 4 but it ran, not greatly but it ran regardless.)
- Own Digitally
- Launcher - EA App
- Any other info - The update on January 13th for the Sims 3 is what started my inability to play any of the games even with trying everything I could find.
