It is not possible to accidentally disconnect the internal drive the computer would immediately crash. I suspect you talk about an external drive that you disconnected. This will have no effect on downloading and installing.
The interface in the EA App just allow you to start the game if it is installed or install it if it isn't it does not mean that the game is fully removed or not.
