Loading large discussions is very slow, almost unworkable

I’m not sure if this is already reported, but when you visit a discussion that has a lot of replies, it progressively takes longer to load the replies. At some point it takes so long that it becomes unworkable. Some form of pagination would be so much better than just keeping all replies in the current view and just increasing the page size.

This already becomes cumbersome in discussions with 50 or more replies. I’ve tried to browse a discussion with over 300 replies, but just gave up because it took way too long to load.

To be fair, it already starts to become slow on pages with more than 50 replies. But maybe more importantly, in the page with discussions, the same issue applies. As soon as you want to scroll back to older discussions, it starts loading more and more items and becomes slower and slower.

Not very user friendly, and I say this as a product specialist in IT, just bad practice. Especially if it affects performance this much.

  • It would be helpful for larger threads for sure. I have my comment order set from newest to oldest, which if fine usually, but is a bit harder if I want to go back to read earlier posts.
