Any Progress on the Hacked Account Unlinking?

Years ago there were a rash of account hijackings on Xbox where people exploited a security flaw in Microsoft's login to gain access to Xbox accounts, link to their EA account, and buy a bunch of a FIFA Ultimate Team packs. So now my Microsoft account is permanently linked to an EA account that is not mine. I have contacted Microsoft and they were very clear, only EA can fix this. I contacted support and they wouldn't help me because I couldn't provide any details about the EA email account linked to Microsoft account (it isn't mine, it belongs to the hackers). I can prove that my Microsoft account belongs to me but that apparently isn't enough. This has been a chronic issue for literal years. Has anyone figured out a work-around? Is there a process being developed for fixing these cases? I see constant questions about it.
