Concern About Progress/Rewards When Merging EA Accounts
Hey all,
I’m looking into merging my EA accounts and I’ve got a few worries about how this will affect my progress and rewards.
My old EA account was created automatically back in the Xbox 360 days under my mum’s email, back when linking accounts was just part of the setup. Years later I changed the email on my Xbox account (when I wasn’t a literal child anymore) to my own personal email, but I never realised that my EA account was still tied to my mum’s email.
Fast forward to now — I’m mainly on PC through Steam, and I realised I already had another EA account under my own email. That’s the one I’ve been logging into while playing EA games on PC, since all my other logins are linked to my personal email.
I actually tried to fix this before by switching my Xbox link from one EA account to the other, but in doing so I lost everything on Battlefield 2042 — only noticing because it’s cross-progression enabled. That was tough, since it means I’ve basically lost nearly 10 years of progress from my childhood (I loved playing PVZ GW 1 and 2).
Now my main concern is with Battlefield 6 rewards, which I’ve been unlocking through the Battlefield 2042 free pass while playing on my Steam-linked PC EA account. I really don’t want to risk losing those if I merge accounts.
On top of that, I’ve recently picked up some older games like Titanfall and Star Wars Battlefront II on PC, but I’ve been avoiding playing them just in case merging causes issues with progress, unlocks, or saves.
Has anyone here gone through the account merge process? Do rewards and progress carry over correctly, or is there still a risk of losing content (like what happened when I switched my Xbox link)? Any advice or official clarification would be hugely appreciated.
In the end, I’d ideally like all my EA save data between both Steam and Xbox to be under one account and one email. Although just having all my links tied to one account and keeping my PC progress safe would be fine, since I know most EA games I own don’t have cross-progression and I’d need to restart on PC anyway.
Thanks.
Hey LionClaw2 all the info we have around linking and unlinking accounts can be found here: https://help.ea.com/en/articles/ea-account/unlink-ea-account/
Generally if you unlink then you will lose any and all progress on that account.
