Dark Greeting Card photo

Every time I take a greeting card photo, it comes out super dark. I tried resetting the booth, adding a new one to the lot, using booths from different seasons, and this happens for all my save games. It also happens if I take a photo with one sim or multiple. I took out the only lighting mod I had since I saw on another thread that might be the issue, but it didn't work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game but it is still happening. Has anyone experienced this and come up with a fix? Thanks!

  • Luciaaafs  I take it you're on a Mac from the screenshot name, but let me know if that's not the case.

Either way, please let me know whether this happens in both fullscreen and windowed modes, and whether the sim-time of day makes a difference.  Night should obviously be dark; I'm asking more about noon vs. early or late in the day.

    Thanks for responding!

Actually I am running Sims on windows 11, x64 architecture 9800x3d cpu, rtx 5080 gpu but connecting remotely to a virtual desktop via Parsec. Previously I was running it on a virtual machine/windows 11, and since switching to this set up I've been having this problem.

The time of day doesn't make a difference, I even tried playing without supernatural active in case the full moon was effecting it, but it's still happening. I did try in windowed mode and the photos are still coming out dark!

  • Luciaaafs  This might be a limitation of your setup, unfortunately.  Screenshots are known to come out dark when using some third-party screen-capture programs, for example Nvidia tools.  While the greeting card isn't a screenshot exactly, it might be similarly affected.

What would be interesting is if you had a way to test directly on the Windows machine, without the remote connection.  I have no idea whether that's possible, but either way you'd have some data.  If the photos looked normal, you'd know it was your connection; if they didn't, you could adjust the settings on that machine until you got what you wanted.

If that's not a possibility, please let me know whether in-game screenshots (taken with C, not an outside tool) look normal, and also the screenshots the game creates for memories.  The memory feature is a resource hog, but it wouldn't do any real damage to turn it on for long enough to capture a few memories.

Screenshots taken with C look normal, I'll have to check about the memories screenshots. I'll see if there's a way to test directly on the Windows machine. Thanks!
